3 Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hainesport, New Jersey Page Message from the Padre The is set apart by the Church for Second Sunday of Lent the Mystery of the Lord's Transfiguration. The Transfiguration of the Lord is an event in Christ s life that is not easy to understand. But God does not leave us alone without an answer. In our Gospel this weekend, we hear God s voice from heaven saying, This is my chosen Son. Listen to him. God is telling us, that even though it is sometimes hard for us to comprehend all that we have seen, He tells us to listen to his beloved Son. For in the end, if we listened and followed Christ s redeeming words. a Heavenly reward awaits for all us. In other words, even though we experience difficulties in life, there is more to our suffering because we are spiritually strengthened with the promise of Christ s Resurrection. My dear friends in Christ, during this Lenten Season, may each one of us listen to the words of Christ and use this opportunity to work on our own transformation that is to become and behold the image of Christ s Goodness and Glory. In the dark of night, God leads Abraham into a covenant, promising that Abraham s descendants will be as numerous as the stars of the sky and live in what will appropriately be called the Promised Land. In the Gospel, God speaks to Peter, John, and James through the shadow of a cloud. Saint Paul, who had a dramatic encounter of his own with God, assures the Philippians and us - that we will share in Christ s glory in heaven. When fasting, a person is allowed to eat one full meal or two smaller meals. From the age of 14, Catholics are also obligated to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all Fridays during Lent. The Seven Last Words of Jesus: A Guide to The Cross and Resurrection. Using the last seven words (statements) of Jesus on the cross, we will journey with Jesus to explore our own road to the cross and eventually to eternal life with Jesus. The two night retreat/mission takes about an hour each night using spiritual reflection, music and silence to bring us closer to Jesus Christ during this season of Lent. Parents only, the children need not attend. Practice for First Reconciliation Saturday, March 23rd from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 27th from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Practice is for ALL 2nd Grade Students receiving the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. It is mandatory that you attend practice on BOTH days. Annulment Information Sessions For many people, the process of marriage annulment is very mysterious, often accompanied by considerable misinformation. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Respect Life News Palm Cross Sale Burlington County Diocesan Respect Life Committee The Knights of Columbus will be selling palm crosses after all Masses the weekend of April 6/7. All palm crosses are priced at $10.00 each. Proceeds will benefit the Knights of Columbus Charities. Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act The New Jersey Assembly Bill A1504 and Senate S1072 bills are now ready for a final vote by each chamber. Both of these bills are against our faith. As Catholics, we believe any form of suicide is against both natural law and God s Commandments.
