April 8, 2018 Page Today, we live in a world of computers, , Internet and cell phones. The technology of our age has enabled us to make connections with one another in ways we never imagined. It used to be that we go to the library to study and do research, but now with just one finger we Google and there it is, you have all the answers. Yes, modern technology has improved the quality of our existence, but we need to know that if we are not careful modern technology itself can dehumanized God s own creation. Overtime, this modern technology becomes a part of our everyday life and as we enjoy the advantage of easy access and easy connections, we are also taking the risk of creating a problem of a non-meaningful disconnected relationship. Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hainesport, New Jersey I n our Gospel this weekend, Jesus said that he is the True Vine. Christ used the image of the vine and the branches to describe our connection with the Father and the Son... a connection of one body one spirit in Christ. Some of us may find this unrealistic, but we have to remember that in order for the branches to grow and bear fruit it has to be connected to a true vine. We need to remember this because if we don t, we can spend lots of hours trying to find true peace, but it will end up in vain until we are connected in Christ, the maker of our hearts. This week, as we continue our Easter observance, let us remind ourselves of Jesus words of I am the vine, you are the branches, whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit. This is the kind of connection we need in our lives a true connection with Christ who is the Way the Truth and the Life. 4 Have you received all your Sacraments? Acts 9: 26-31, 1 John 3: John 15: 1-8 Saint Paul makes his first appearance in Jerusalem since his conversion and many of the disciples are wary of him. But Paul shows that he is in Christ and Christ is in him. As we hear in the Gospel, this is what Jesus asked of his disciples. He promised that they would bear much fruit. As we listen to the readings today, let us consider how we too are asked to remain in Jesus and how we can bear fruit. Care for the Sick, Homebound and Elderly The sick, the homebound and the elderly are valued members of our parish. To make arrangements for visitation by a member of the Homebound Ministry, please call Deacon Leo Zito at the Parish Office at ext. 19. Baptismal Preparation Class We offer a Baptismal Preparation Class for parents as a way of preparing them for their child s journey of faith. All parents planning to have their first child baptized are required to attend a class before the Baptism may be scheduled. Once the Baptismal Preparation class is attended, the form completed and the Godparents Eligibility Certificates are turned in, a date for your child s Baptism will be set. To register for this class, please contact Carol at the Parish Office ext. 16 Marriage Engaged couples are required to make arrangements with the Parish at least one year in advance of the planned wedding date and before finalizing any social plans. Please keep our 45 candidates in your prayers. Registration is available for all First Graders. Please come to the Religious Education Office to pick up your registration forms. Your child must be six years old and you must be a registered member of the parish to enter the Religious Education Program. A copy of your child s Baptismal certificate is required. This could be a special way to remember your loved ones this Mother s Day and Father s Day. The cost of each brick with your personal message and a symbol is $125.
