For more information contact Elissa Lucas Richardson at or elissa_richardson@hotmail.com. TO BOW OR GENUFLECT? Now that the tabernacle, housing the Blessed Sacrament, has been moved forward in our church, several people have asked what the proper reverence should be when passing by it. This excerpt is taken from an article that appeared in the Compass in March 2011: Bowing is the proper sign of reverence to the altar (when no tabernacle is near it) while genuflection (on the right knee) is reserved for God, we only genuflect to the body of Christ reserved in the tabernacle. (If in doubt, just look for the sanctuary light, which is kept burning by the tabernacle whenever the sacred species is present.)so, as a sign of adoration and love for the Body of Christ, we should genuflect, if physically possible, when passing by the tabernacle. Thanks for asking! CHILDREN S CHOIR ANNUAL CONCERT will be on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00 PM in church. Come and hear these young voices sing some songs that you haven t heard at any of the 10:15 AM Masses. TAIZE PRAYER Wednesday, May 16th 6:30 PM Chapel This contemplative style of prayer is a great way to unwind after a day of play, work, or heavy shopping. Come experience the solitude. 9 F IFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER PAGE 9 CALLING ALL YOUNG SINGLE WOMEN! Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Manitowoc, WI, invite young adult single women to a Vocation Discernment Retreat May 18-21,2012 Register online or contact Sister Mary Ann Spanjers smaryannsp@fscccalledtobe.org FOR YOUR INFORMATION! The goal of this popular education curriculum is to engage the question: "What kind of society do we wish to become?" It is vital that all of us engage this question by bringing our values - not our opinions - to the many conversations about the economy and the federal budget. The budget is a moral document! The Gospel and Catholic social teaching remind us that we are responsible for both ourselves and the common good. One of the ways in which we do this is through government, taxes and the federal budget. To the extent there are things we don't like about any one of the three, we together are responsible for fixing them. Being informed about and engaged with these issues is part of our responsibility as citizens and as people of faith. The module's many activities and discussions will help participants move beyond reflexive biases and myths and create a space for thoughtful dialogue, not debate, about both the role of government and how to pay for it. The eight sessions of this module include the following topics: Session One: Our Personal Experience with Government Session Two: The Common Good and Government Session Three: Who is Responsible? Session Four: My Priorities, Our Budget... and Waste, Fraud and Abuse Session Five: Federal Budget, Debt, and Responsibility Session Six: Paying for Government and the Common Good Session Seven: A Current Tax and Budget Debate Session Eight: Summing Up and Possible Next Steps Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings starting at 7 P.M. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Resurrection Parish in Green Bay. Registration fees for this module will be covered by Resurrection Parish; additional costs include a per person cost of $25.00 for books.
