We look forward to welcoming them to the Lord s Table as they receive Eucharist for the first time. 3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, The Gospel Readings for the Sundays of the Easter Season are from the Gospel of John. John s Gospel contains many beautiful images of the Kingdom of God. The metaphor of the Vine and the Branches from today s Gospel reveals a profound understanding of our life in Christ. Through Baptism the disciple is grafted on to the Vine of Christ. By sharing in the Eucharist, the disciple is strengthened to bear fruit for the kingdom of God. The disciple is intimately connected to Jesus, the True Vine, and receives life through Jesus Christ. Therefore our lives should overflow with love, justice, mercy, and peace, the virtues of the kingdom of God. This Tuesday, May 1 st, will begin a five week presentation on the letters of Saint Paul. This presentation is open to all parishioners, but spaces are limited so please call or Colleen Salvas as noted in the bulletin announcement to register. The presentation will begin at 7:30 pm in the Saint Vincent de Paul Room, downstairs in the Parish Center. Please bring a copy of the New Testament and I will provide other materials as needed. We are proud of your accomplishments! Thank you, Mrs. Russo and the Home School Association, for the wonderful Laser Tag Mother/Son Event! Please see the Action Alert on the website regarding Transportation, Nursing Services, and Technology funding. I ask that everyone contact the legislators via the link asking that the funding in the budget remain the same for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your support. The Scholastic Book Fair, buy one get one free, will be held April 30-May 3. Induction into NJHS will be held on May 1 beginning at 7:00 pm. Eighth grade graduation pictures will be taken on May 1 during the school day. Communion rehearsal for our second grade students will be held on May 2 beginning at 6:30 pm. The Band and Chorus Spring Concert will take place on May 3 at 9:30 am and 7:00 pm. Please come and support our outstanding students as they perform. Family Day in honor of our second grade students and their families will be held on Friday, May 4, beginning with the 8:30 am Mass. First Communion will be held on May 5 at 10:00 am in the Church. Master Teacher Jason Gotay will be working with our Drama Club students after school on May 7. Tickets are now on sale for the Drama Club production, Into the Woods. Race for Education will be held on May 8 during the school day. Please support this important fundraiser. May 8 from 6:00-8:00 pm, Drama Fun Night will be held for students in PreK-Grade 2 and students who will be joining our school family. The Rutgers Science Bus will be here on May 9 and 10 for students in Grades 6-8. We are continuing to register students in Grades Kindergarten through 8 for the school year.
