3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY Dear Brothers and Sisters, One of the joys of going on vacation is the letting go of our daily schedule and duties and embracing the experience of travel and new adventures. A sense of being out of one s element, trying new foods and getting away from it all can be quite invigorating. Spiritually we also experience a sense of wonder and awe in the presence of nature and the beauty of creation. Saint Augustine used the experience of his own travels as a metaphor for life s journey. We are pilgrims on the earth and here we have no lasting city. Our true homeland is in heaven with God and all of our life s journeys will end in God. Enjoy these summer days. Thomas MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES July 28th & 29th, 2018: $15, Bishop s Annual Appeal Lighting a Fire in the Heart of Our World Thanks to the dedication of our faithful parishioners, pastors and parish appeal coordinators, we exceeded our Bishop s Annual Appeal goal for the second year in a row with pledges of over $7.8 million from nearly 26,000 households. Achieving our $7.2 million goal for the 2018 Appeal allowed us to distribute funds to the ministries as projected. Your extraordinary generosity enables us to continue advancing our mission. Money raised over goal will help cover tuition costs for 6 more seminarians than originally budgeted for, address the needs of a growing number of retired clergy, and enhance our communication strategy. Thank you for also providing for these urgent needs. As you can imagine, the needs are great! It s Not Too Late to Give: Donations are still being gratefully accepted for the 2018 Bishop s Annual Appeal. Money raised over goal will help provide for more urgent needs. A parish receives 50% of the amount collected over the parish goal. Parish rebates can be earned through October 2018, so there is still time to fulfill your pledge. This talented group will be returning on Saturday, August 11th at 7:00pm in the Lourdes Center Gym. PreSale tickets will be $25.00 per person, $30 at the door. Doors open at 6:15pm. 5 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference Backpack and School Supplies Collec on: Aug , 2018 Purchasing backpacks and school supplies can be very difficult for low income families struggling to make ends meet. We are asking for your support again this year to help give children of our SVDP clients some of the tools they need to be ready for school. Your dona ons of supplies can make a real difference to them. In addi on to backpacks, some examples of school supplies are: Wide ruled spiral notebooks, marbled composi on notebooks, glue s cks, Black/blue ballpoint pens, #2 Pencils, 24 Pack crayons, pink erasers, rulers, mul -pocket folders, pencil pouches, highlighters, facial ssues, colored markers, and dry erase markers.
