3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today is the 12 th day of Christmas the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. Jesus Christ manifested in the flesh and revealed unto the Gentiles as Savior of the World. The Magi (Three Kings) come to worship the Christ Child. They bring gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. These gifts reveal Christ to be the eternal King, the Savior of the World. According to tradition Catholic Homes were blessed on this day in the honor of the Magi, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. Their insignia (written in chalk) is placed above the front door of the home 20+C+M+B+19. May the splendor of your majesty, O Lord, we pray, shed its light upon our hearts, that we may pass through the shadows of this world and reach the brightnerss of our eternal home. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, Forever and ever. Amen. Blessings on the Feast of the Epiphany. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES In Christ, Fr. Thomas Collections to follow in next bulletin
4 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference KNIGHTS KORNER The Saint Vincent depaul Society is grateful for the overwhelming generosity of the St. Bartholomew Parish during this holiday season. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this year s Adopt-a-Family program. Over $8700 in funds and gifts were donated and used to help our families during this difficult time. Your kindness allowed us to assist these clients with rent payments, utility bills, medical expenses and car repairs, as well as, the purchase of household items including Christmas dinner for one family. We also want to acknowledge the generous food and monetary donations that we received during our December Food Pantry Collection. In addition, we would like to thank the members of World Tavern Poker Tournament for their collection, Because of this abundance of donations, we were able to restock the pantry shelves with many necessities. The money we receive allows us to keep the pantry stocked between food collections and is used to purchase meat for our clients. Providing food to the less fortunate is an important part of the SVDP mission. If you have any questions about our food pantry, please contact Debbie Wagner at debbiew0307@yahoo.com. Our organization is very appreciative of the kindness shown by our parishioners and others in the local community. May God bless you in the coming year. 5 St. Bartholomew School 470 Ryders Lane East Brunswick, NJ Tel Fax January 5, 2019 Dear Parents, Guardians, and Parishioners, Welcome to a wonderful New Year. We are blessed to have your support as we continue to live our mission: To love, educate, and inspire our children to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. Catholic Schools Week begins January 27, so I invite you to come see for yourself the valuable academic and spiritual education Saint Bartholomew School provides to our young people and its contribution to our community. Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions parents/guardians make for their children as the school your children attend influences their values and beliefs, how they learn and think about the future, and how they question and interpret the world around them. Saint Bartholomew School is a top school in the Diocese where students learn and discover with our high-quality academic curriculum, where compassionate leaders are nurtured, and where a sense of responsibility is imparted. The education students receive goes above and beyond lessons in textbooks with our state-of-the-art technology, security, library, curriculum, STREAM, and Catholic Identity. We are continuously updating our facility, technology, library, and extracurricular offerings so that we offer a well-rounded education. Our Pre- Kindergarten was voted best in Middlesex County. Please join us at our Open Houses on January 27, from 11:30 am-2:00 pm and February 1 from 9:30-10:30 am and 12:15-1:15 pm to see all that we offer. As we celebrate the visit of the three kings on the feast of the Epiphany, may the visitation of the kings reveal the divinity of Christ and may the light of Christ embrace you with peace, joy, health, and happiness. God bless you, Mrs. Ann Wierzbicki, R.N., M.A.E./Ed.S. Principal St. Bartholomew School invites you for a personal guided tour during our Open Houses on January 27, 2019 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and February 1, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM. We offer full time Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, and Kindergarten to Grade 8 with a comprehensive curriculum based on best practice that includes advanced technology, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish.
