3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, The Collect (opening Prayer) for the Third Sunday of Lent calls us to continue on the path of penance and conversion that we began on Ash Wednesday. Our fasting, prayer and almsgiving are a remedy for sin and deepen our awareness of our dependence upon the goodness and mercy of God. The next three Tuesday Evenings we will resume our study of the Gospels. Since it is the year of consecration to Our Lady of Guadalupe we will be reflecting on the Virgin Mary in the Gospel of Luke. We will meet at 7:30 pm in the Church. Please bring a Bible. All are welcome to attend these sessions. In Christ, Fr. To date, 256 parishioners have pledged $72,000 and paid $62,000. These generous pledges put us at 42% of our parish goal of $173,000. Our other goal is for every family to participate. If you have not contributed yet this year, we ask you to prayerfully consider donating to the Bishop's Appeal funding over 25 diocesan and parish ministries that reach a half million people. You can return the envelope with your pledge or one-time gift in the collection basket. The Diocese of Metuchen's home page, diometuchen.org, also describes other ways to contribute including online and employer matching gifts. 4 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference KNIGHTS KORNER St. Vincent de Paul First Communion Project We have been partnering with our SVDP Pantry in Perth Amboy for a number of years for their annual First Communion Project. Low income families in the Perth Amboy area rely on the pantry for many needs. Some families that have children preparing to receive First Communion cannot afford Communion ou its and accessories for their children. The pantry provides these, based on dona ons from our local SVDP Conferences. If you can help with gently used First Communion ou its or other First Communion accessories, please bring them to church on the weekends of March or March We will be in the narthex to collect them. As always, we thank you for your generosity. About the Society The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an interna onal organiza on of lay Catholics who organize into small working groups known as conferences. At this grass-roots level Vincen ans are engaged in person-to-person service with troubled persons and families in their immediate neighborhood. Our Pre-K students welcomed Spring with a wonderful show for their parents/ guardians, and families! Thank you to our student ambassadors and all who attended the Mass Saturday evening, hosted by Bishop Checchio. Iowa testing is complete and our students worked hard and did their best. The end of the third marking period is Friday, March 29. Please contact teachers with any questions or concerns. We look forward to wonderful presentations by our students in Grades 5-8 at the Science Fair, which will be held from 7:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27. All students in Grades 5-8 are required to attend, and everyone is invited. Thank you, Mrs. Laudicina, Miss Maligranda, and Mrs. Frady, for preparing our scientists and engineers, and thank you, students, for all your preparation and hard work! We will be hosting an Open House on Wednesday, April 3, from 9:30-10:30 am, 12:15-1:15 pm, and 6:00-8:00 pm.
