RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, The Gospel for the First Sunday of Lent finds Jesus in the wilderness being tempted by Satan. We enter into our Lenten retreat with the Lord Jesus, a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May this time of retreat strengthen us as disciples of the Lord and bring us to the joy of Easter. Lent is a season of being invited by God to change. To return to God with our whole heart. After receiving the sign of ashes on our foreheads we are reminded that we are mortal creatures in need of God's Mercy and Forgiveness. Please take time for prayer each day. Prayer is a lifting of the mind and heart to God. Daily prayer strengthens and deepens our relationship with God. Prayer will change your life! There are extra opportunities to attend daily Mass during Lent. On Monday evening we celebrate a Mass and novena in honor of Our Lady, Wednesday Evening we celebrate a Healing Mass for all of those in need and Friday evening Mass is followed by the Stations of the Cross. All Masses are at 7 pm in the Church. Let us continue to pray for one another. In Christ, Father Thomas Part me Posi on Part me weekend custodian posi on available for the church. 5 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference The St. Vincent de Paul Society is very grateful for the generous food, monetary, and gift donations we have received from our parishioners and parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish. Thank you so much for your generosity! Spirit of St. Vincent Pope John Paul II taught that spirituality concerns the whole of life, or, as he often put it, the unity of life. He said to the laity: There cannot be two parallel lives in your existence as lay men and women: on the one hand, the so-called spiritual life, with its values and demands; and on the other, the so-called secular life, that is, life in a family, at work, social relationships, in the responsibilities of public life and in culture. The branch, engrafted to the vine which is Christ, bears its fruit in every sphere of existence and activity. Every activity, every situation, every precise responsibility is the occasion ordained by Providence for a continuous exercise of faith, hope, and charity. (US Manual of the SVDP, p. 59) About the Society Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We can be reached at or by at info@ebsvdp.org. If getting involved and helping others is something you've been meaning to do, please consider this an invitation to join us!
