3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, September 17, 2017 RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, How often must I forgive? This is the question that St. Peter asks the Lord Jesus in today's Gospel. Mercy and forgiveness lie at the heart of the ministry of Jesus. As a disciple do I follow Jesus' example? It is often our inability to forgive, our lack of mercy, that destroys our relationships with members of our family and community. Only the amazing grace of God, that we receive in the sacraments, changes us and allows us to relinquish our bitterness and our pride to learn the way of mercy and love. We are all in need of God's mercy and forgiveness. Who is in need of your forgiveness today? Do not let bitterness and harsh judgement keep you from experiencing the mercy of God, "forgive your brother from your heart." In Christ, Fr. Thomas MASS SCHEDULE III III Anthonyette Kristensen & Thomas Karyczak Vincent Solano & Erin Wagner September 9th & 10th, 2017: $21, Peter s Pence: $ 2, Monday Friday 8:30 A.M Saturday 8:00 A.M. 4 St. Bartholomew School 470 Ryders Lane East Brunswick, NJ Tel Fax September 16, 2017 Dear Parents and Guardians and Parishioners, We had a wonderful start to the school year. We are so happy to welcome our new and returning students and are grateful to you for choosing our school. As stated by St. John Paul II, The Church in the United States has been instrumental in educating successive generations of Catholics, and in teaching the truth of the faith, promoting respect for the human person, and developing the moral character of their students. Their academic excellence and success in preparing young people for life have served the whole of American society. Your children bring us joy every day. This week, we had a dress down for donation to benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The Summer Reading Challenge is due now, and the celebration will be the following week. Also, please see the communication envelope for information regarding clubs and the upcoming Magazine Sale. I will keep you posted about Astronaut Mark Vande Hei s journey to space as he travels with our commemorative coin. Please see the flyer in the communication envelope if you would like to purchase a coin to support the STREAM program. Back-to-School Night for parents/guardians of students in Grades 1-8 will be held on September 20, beginning at 6:30 pm in the auditorium and 7:00 pm in the Church. After introductions in the Church, you may visit your children s classrooms to meet the teachers. If you have a child in Grade 8, please proceed to that session first for important information about eighth grade. On the anniversary of 9/11, we prayed for those who still mourn and trust in God s unfailing love. God bless you, Mrs. Ann Wierzbicki, R.N., M.A.E./Ed.S.
