3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph, December 31, 2017 RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Fast away the old year passes hard to imagine the end of another year and the beginning of the New Year The calendar marks the turning of tides and seasons and so marks the passing of centuries and two millennia since the Birth of Christ at Bethlehem of Judea. The first day of the year marks the octave day of Christmas and is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. May the prayers of Jesus and Mary and dear Saint Joseph bring peace to our world. May the joy of the Holy Family strengthen the bonds within our own families and our community of Saint Bartholomew. Happy New Year! In Christ, Fr. Thomas MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. Scouting News Troop 109 & Pack 109 here at St. Bartholomew's Parish would like to wish all members of the Parish a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!! A Very Big "THANK YOU" to all who made our Christmas Tree sale a success. Pack 109 offers a comfortable environment for boys from 1st to 5th grade to grow & participate in planned activities. Biweekly meetings and events are planned throughout the year. Parental participation is required. For information Patty Riccadella Our Pinewood Derby is in February!!! Troop 109 offers a Boy lead environment for boys 6th grade & up, with adult leader supervision. While parental participation is not required, it is strongly recommended. We use weekly meetings to get organized for upcoming trips, activities and advancement, such as: Volunteering at the Food Bank in New Brunswick, Ski/Camping trip to Blakeslee PA, Winterburg camping trip to Forestburgh NY, among others. In God's Image, the Catholic Faith Sharing Group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people at Sacred Heart Church, South Plainfield, meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:00PM in the Annex Building. 8 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference OZANAM MEAL PROGRAM The Ozanam Meal Program Committee will meet on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 7:30pm in the Parish Center. Our group s mission is to prepare, deliver and serve dinner at the Ozanam Family Shelter on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursday of every month. We will be planning the menus for November and December. I extend an invitation to any parishioner who would like to help out with this effort. New members are always welcomed! There, our services are held every Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. for one hour. The readings from Sunday s Mass are read and discussed. The commandments are often used as a basis for discussion.
