3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers & Sisters: Please allow me to extend my gratitude to all those who made the Christmas Liturgies so beautiful and joyful. Christmas at St. Bartholomew is always such a beautiful celebration of God s love for us made manifest in our Savior Jesus Christ. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, the coming of the Magi to worship the Christ Child. The Magi brings gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to reveal Christ as King, Christ as Judge and Christ as Victor over death. According to tradition, Catholic homes were blessed on this day in the name of the Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar. Their insignia (written in chalk) is placed above the front door of the home 20+C+M+B+18. Like the Magi, may we too find Christ at the end of our journey. In Christ, Fr. We are entering a very busy time of year as we prepare for Catholic Schools Week, beginning on January 28 at the 10:00 am Mass. Open House will be held from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm, so please spread the word about our wonderful school. A second Open House will be held on Friday, February 2, from 9:30 am-10:30 am and 12:15 pm-1:15 pm. Many wonderful activities are planned, including the Literacy Fair for all students on January 31 at 7:00 pm. Also, I am pleased to report that legislation regarding The Tax Cut and Jobs Act allows for expansion of 529 Accounts. Starting in 2018, these accounts can be used for up to $10, in tuition expenses annually in elementary and secondary schools. Thank you for your continued support of our mission. Our Pre-Kindergarten Program for students ages 3 and 4 has received the prestigious honor of being named best Preschool in Middlesex County by the Home News and Tribune. We are very happy to receive this recognition for our wonderful school. Astronaut Mark Vande Hei sent a picture from space, displaying the St. Bartholomew School Commemorative Coin. We are grateful for his support. Congratulations to the winners of the Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest: Samantha Bell (Grades 6-8), Joseph Peters (Grades 3-5), and Juliana Roncancio (Grades K-2). Please support Mr. O Grady and the Polar Bear Plunge, which will be held on January 28. Please note that the Second Quarter ends on January 26, so please continue to monitor your child s progress on Power School. 5 St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church To Sponsor Slavic Dinner Wednesday, January 10, 2018 St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church will sponsor the Slavic Dinner on Wednesday, January 10, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The dinner will be held in the St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Boulevard, Hillsborough, NJ. The cost is $18.00 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5.00 for Children (8 and under) and includes all you can eat Pirohi, Stuffed Cabbage, Kielbasa and Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage. Each month a special entrée will be specially selected and prepared by St. Mary s chef John Pagano. Dinners are held on the second Wednesday of every month throughout the year.
