3 INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, The days of September are filled with so many new beginnings. As a parish family we welcome back our school students and later this month our children in the Religious Education Program. Our Athletic Programs will begin again and all of our parish societies and organizations will be holding meetings and sponsoring events. We are indeed a very blessed and generous community and may Our Lord continue to bless our labors on behalf of His Kingdom. This Friday, September 14 th, is the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the day on which Saint Helena discovered the relics of the Cross of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. On this day I am requesting that we spend a day in prayer and fasting as we remember all the victims of sexual abuse. The Church will be open from 7 am until 9 pm. There will a Mass at 8:30 am with our school community and a Mass at 7pm. Please come and pray for the renewal of the Church and for our Holy Father Pope Francis. The students had a wonderful first week and we are so happy to have them back. We have been working over the summer to design exciting and challenging learning experiences for our students, so I am sure it will be a great year of love, education, and inspiration. This year, we are enrolling in a platform called STOP!T. STOP!T is an online reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other inappropriate behaviors, consisting of an app and a back-end incident management system for school administration. Students are able to report incidents to school contacts anonymously through Report and can engage in anonymous two-way communication with school contacts through Messenger. Both Report and Messenger empower students to stand up for themselves and one another. More information will be presented at Back-to-School Night, which will be held on September 19, Parents/ guardians of students in Grades 1-8 will also be able to meet the teachers. Please return emergency form and signed Handbook form to the office. Summer Reading Challenge is due by September 10. Parents and guardians of students in Pre-K and Kindergarten will meet the teachers on Thursday, September 6, at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. I am looking forward to partnering with you as we offer our students the best in Catholic education. 5 St. Vincent DePaul Society St. Bartholomew Conference The monthly St. Vincent depaul Society food drive will be held next weekend, September 15 & 16. Please check the expiration date of your donations as we cannot use expired food. The pantry is in need of the following items: Apple Juice, Coffee, Tea, Fruit Juice, Cereal, Oatmeal (Reg & Instant), Mayonnaise, White Rice, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Tissues, Dish Detergent, Pancake Syrup, Applesauce, Vegetable Oil, Pancake Mix, Cake Mix &^ Icing, Tuna Fish, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Cookies & Snacks This collection is held on the third weekend of every month. We appreciate any support in terms of food or monetary donations that you can give us. Please refrain from leaving food donations in the Narthax or the school cafeteria at other times of the month.
