McGuire, pastor (740) triumphofthecross.org First Saturday Cenacle First Saturday Light of the World Cenacle March 1, will gather in the Marian Room following the 8:30am Mass. Dr. Anthony N. Paruta will reflect on the Passion and the Shroud of Turin during this one hour video presentation of the Apostolate for Family Consecration. We will review the First Saturday Formula for Peace and meditate on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. Light refreshments will be served. Come join us! Second Collection Next weekend there is a second collection for Catholic Relief Services. The Catholic Relief Services Collection supports Catholic Church organizations that carry out international relief and solidarity efforts. Programs include relief and resettlement for victims of persecution, war, and natural disasters; development projects to improve living conditions for the poor; legal and support services for poor immigrants; peace and reconciliation work for people suffering from violence; and advocacy on behalf of the powerless. Pancake Breakfast On Sunday March 2nd, The Knights of Columbus #11828 will host a pancake breakfast at St. Peter's Church Parish Hall, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The cost is $6 per adult, $3 per child and the family rate is $18. The Sacred Heart Education Fund is the benefici ary. Tri-State Fertility Care Centers The Tri-State Fertility Care Centers will be hosting their 7th Annual Seminar Day Saturday, March 1, in Weirton. Speakers will include Fr. Dan Heusel, Prof. and Mrs. Drake and Crystal McCalister. The keynote address will be given by renown bioethicist, Dr. Patrick Lee. Registered nurse CEUs are available. Stewardship Moment Is the Lord in our midst, or not? This question from today s first reading was one of seemingly endless protests by those who followed Moses into the desert. Just as it was for the Israelites wandering in the desert, so it is for Christian stewards today who confront those interior struggles that come with living a life of faith. We must remember to exercise good stewardship of our prayer life; to take time to pray, and to ask the Lord for spiritual nourishment and the wisdom to know that the Lord is in our midst. Lighter Side: Catholic Glossary PROCESSION: The ceremonial formation at the beginning of Mass consisting of altar servers, the celebrant, and late parishioners looking for seats. USHERS: The only people in the parish who don't know the seating capacity of a pew. Little known facts about the Catholic Church in Las Vegas -- There are more churches in Las Vegas than casinos. During Sunday services at the offertory, some worshippers contribute casino chips as opposed to cash. Some are sharing their winnings - some are hoping to win. Since they get chips from so many different casinos, and they are worth money, the Catholic churches are required to send all the chips into the diocese for sorting. Once sorted into the respective casino chips, one! junior priest takes the chips and makes the rounds to the casinos turning chips into cash. And he is known as the Chip Monk. Parish Nurse Ministry Being a caregiver for a family member is an undertaking of love that can be a rewarding experience for both you and the person for whom you care. However it is important that you take good care of yourself as well. Here are some tips for maintaining your own well-being as well as a caregiver: Maintain as healthy a routine as possible Eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water Exercise regularly Take vacation once in awhile Get a hobby for your downtimes Join a support group Maintain a solid social network Keep involved in Church and all activities connected with it. Registration forms will be mailed to current school families the week of February 25, Forms are to be dropped off at any of the three schools or sent back with your child during registration week. The $40 registration fee is waived for students currently enrolled in our system. New families can pick up registration forms at All Saints, Aquinas or Holy Rosary Schools beginning on March 3, An Open House will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 P.M. at the current Holy Rosary and Aquinas buildings, soon to be Bishop John King Mussio Rosemont and Lovers Lane campuses. This is an opportunity to tour the buildings before you decide where you will choose to register your child. 3

4 An information session for Bishop John King Mussio Junior High School will be held in Lanman Hall at CCHS on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. Parents will be able to register that night as well. Entry requirements: Preschool - 3 years of age by Aug. 1. Transitional Kindergarten - 4 years of age by Aug. Kindergarten - 5 years of age by Aug. 1. Parent and student input have resulted in the selection of our new uniform plaid (#2 on your surveys ). Further uniform information will be forthcoming. The Local Education Advisory Councils have been appointed for both schools and will meet within the next few weeks. Committees will be established. Teacher interviews are being conducted throughout the month of February. Work is in progress to examine and align textbooks. Designs for needed renovations to the high school to accommodate the Junior High are completed. A work timeline and funding strategies are being developed. Tuition for the new school year will be set once registration is complete since it is dependent on enrollment. The goal is to set tuition at a rate comparable to the current grade school tuitions.
