The tcket named by the Republcans of Oahu county last nght was far better than many antcpated. t was a tcket whch, n the man, represents the purpose of the party to exclude from honors and preferment men who have forfeted the rght to expect them. The agreement was sgned n New York ust a short tme ago by representatves of the planters and the steamshp agents. Under the new contract the mer canhawa an freghters wll handle all the sugar that can be carred wth the tonnage at the dsposal of the sland trade. The freghters wll take about 05,000 tons of sugar around the Horn next year and the planters are now charterng salng vessels to take the balance. ll of the sugar agents are ncluded n the two years contract, as follows: H. Hackfeld & Co., T. H. Daves & Co., lexander & Baldwn, C. Brewer & Co., Castle & Cooke, F.. Schaefer & Co., M. S. Grnbaum & Co., and Henry Waterhouse Trust Co. The contract calls for the handlng of the crops of 904 and 905, the planters agreeng to furnsh sugar, for as many steamers as the mercanhawaa n Steamshp can place n these waters. t s estmated that 05,000 tons of sugar wll be handled by the freghters durng the season of 904. The total balance of the crop, nearly 300,000 tons, wll be handled by the salng fleet exceptng about 0,000 tons whch wll be shpped drect to San Francsco by freghters. The sugar agmts are now charterng salng vessels to handle the remander of the crop. The frst of the freghters to take part of the new crop wll probably be the Hawaan whch s due to arrve n December. THE LMED OFF FOR COST The lameda saled promptly on tme yesterday mornng wth many well known people. H.. Bgelow and Mrs. Bgelow were departng passengers. HWNS BENG NOT ENLSTED There has been a fallng off n the applcatons for enlstment n the navy from among Hawaan boys. The natves who were enlsted dd not make partcularly brllant successes as salors aboard war vessels and now only such natves as are good seamen are beng accepted at the recrutng offce On ths account the applcatons from Hawaans have fallen off. although a short tme ago there was a rush on ther part to get nto the navy. Sx men are stll on the roquos awatng transportaton to the coast or transfer to some other vessel of the navy. When the number has reached ten, they wll be sent to the coast aboard a ml steamer unless a naval vessel happe e to be n port. BG LNERS WLL MKE SHORT STY The two bg Pacfc Mal steamers have been gven orders to waste no more tme n Honolulu. Hereafter they wll leave on the same day that they arrve n port, unless detaned n workng the cargo. Heretofore both the Korea and Sbera have been layng over at Honolulu from twentyfou r to thrty hours but ths has all been changed by a recent order from Supt. Schwern. The Korea whch was the last of the Pacfc Mal lners to pass through here, arrved n port early n the mornng and departed agan for the Orent at 5:30 oclock the same afternoon. The same schedule wll be followed hereafter, both by the Korea and Sbera. None of the other Pacfc Mal, Orental & Occdental and Toyo Ksen Kasha boats stay n port longer than s necessary to take on coal and get rd of ther Orental freght and mmgrants. The Korea and Sbera are runnng on a sxda y schedule from the coast and t wll be mantaned n the future, the steamer arrvng from San Francsco on the mornng of the scheduled day. There s a dvded opnon as to how the new order wll affect Honolulu. By some t s clamed that the shortenng of the length of stay n ths port, wll work aganst the nterests of the cty. nother vew, shared by many s that the new order wll have the effect of compellng toursts who want to see the slands to stop over between boats. Wth the steamer n port thrty hours, passengers may get the dea, that they have seen all there s to see, and consequently not stop over. SOLCE SLS FOR THE COST The U. S. N. Nr.e newly enlsted men were sent aboard the Solace yesterday mornng, and sx of them the shps offcers returned to the roquos. The Solace Wus already so crowded that the addtonal sx passengers could not be accommodated. The Solace wll probably make a slow trp to San Francsco.
