VBS Weird Animals VBS is just a few months away - June 16th-20th! If you are interested in helping out, there will be a sign-up sheet in the foyer today. Debbe and Cheryl will also be available to answer any questions you might have. We are looking for adults and teens (Jr. & Sr. High) who would like to have a fun-filled week working with kids. We also need people to help in the nursery and head up our small pre-school class with an informal program. LA MISSIONS TEAM MEETING All those going on the High School Mission Trip to Inner-City LA in April are asked to attend the prep meeting and lunch today at 12 pm immediately following the Worship Service. CHILDREN S CHOIR In preparation for Palm Sunday next Sunday, April 13, the Praise Notes and Girl s Choir will be practicing at 9:20 a.m. on Sundays, April 6th and 13th in the sanctuary. Please have your children at church ready to sing. ALL COLLEGE/CAREER SINGLES are invited for Dinner & Bible Study at the home of Ryan and Patti Hiebert tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm. DISCOVERING SMBC Would you like to learn more about SMBC? Are you considering baptism and church membership? Then this class is for you! Discovering SMBC is a 5 week class that will begin on Sunday, April 13 during the Sunday School hour. If you are interested in attending the class please write DSMBC on your blue Welcome card or call the church office. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS are available for Hartland Christian Camp Summer Camps. Application forms are available from the church office. CHILD DEDICATION We will be having Child Dedication on Sunday, April 27, during the morning Worship Service. If you would like to have your child/children dedicated on that Sunday please contact the church office by April 22. FLOWERS were placed in the sanctuary today by Randy and Cheryl Toews and children in loving memory of parents and grandparents, Frank Nord and Menno & Evelyn Toews. PRAYING FOR SMBC BOOKMARKS are available in the foyer if you would like to take one as a guide to your prayer time for our church family. GRADUATES If you or your child will be graduating from college or university this spring or summer please send graduation information to the church office by April 21.

3 MORE NEWS Wasco Relay for Life is coming up April at the Wasco High School football field. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Anyone can join the team ($10 registration fee) and be part of the relay which begins at 8:30 am on Saturday, April 26 and ends at 8:30 am on Sunday, April 27. Luminaries can be purchased from our Relay for Life team members for $10 each in honor or memory of a cancer patient. For more information or to join the team contact Rick Penner at MDS Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting of the California Unit of Mennonite Disaster Service will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Laurelglen Church in Bakersfield, CA. All are welcome and a complimentary lunch will be served. The meeting will highlight a presentation by Harold Miller, a MDS Project Director who has led more than 30 projects over more than a 10 year period including several in Alaska. The focus of Harold's presentation will be "what is it like to volunteer on an MDS project", with special emphasis on volunteering on the 2 upcoming projects in Circle and Alakanuk, AK this summer. College Scholarships If you are a member of a Mennonite church on the West Coast and attend a college or graduate school in Arizona, California, Oregon or Washington, you could be eligible to receive a scholarship from Mennonite Insurance Services of Reedley, California. You must be at least a college junior and have a cumulative gpa of at least 3.0. Application deadline is July 1, 2014 for the fall 2014 semester. Nursery Help Needed! Minerva Salinas, our hired Nursery worker, is out on maternity leave through April. We are very thankful for the wonderful adult and youth volunteers who help Minerva care for our little ones each week! In her absence, we will need an additional adult helper each Sunday in April during the Sunday School hour and Worship Service. If you are not already on the schedule for April and would like to spend a morning playing with babies and toddlers, please consider serving our church in this way! MEN S CHORUS The West Coast Mennonite Men s Chorus is comprised of nearly 200 men from the Mennonite Brethren Churches of the West coast including several men from SMBC. The concerts are free, with opportunity to give to the Mennonite Central Committee world relief efforts.
