AWANA AWARDS NIGHT is this Wednesday, May 7 at 6:30 pm in the church Sanctuary. Everyone is invited as we recognize those boys and girls who have completed one or more handbooks this past club year. There will be no meal served at church on May 7. SMBCMDBTMC The SMBC Mother s Day Boys to Mens Chorus will rehearse in the choir loft this Wednesday, May 7 at 8:00 pm (after Awana Awards) in the sacntuary. What could be a better gift to your mother or grandmother than flowers and cards and singing to the Lord in honor of your mother on Mother s Day, next Sunday, during the Worship Service. All boys and men please join, it ll be easy, it ll be fun! See Randy Toews if you have questions. VBS UPDATE Vacation Bible School will be here soon, June 16-20! We are fully staffed with the exception of the Nursery. An informational/training meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14 th at 6:30 p.m. in the Dining Room. Even if you have worked at VBS in the past, please plan on being there as you will get a taste of what we will be doing all week and you ll find out what Weird Animals is all about! We will soon have a list of supplies that we will be asking you to help us with. Please be on the look-out for more information real soon! COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS If you are a member of a Mennonite church on the West Coast and attend a college or graduate school in Arizona, California, Oregon or Washington, you could be eligible to receive a scholarship from Mennonite Insurance Services of Reedley, California. You must be at least a college junior and have a cumulative gpa of at least 3.0. Application deadline is July 1, 2014 for the fall 2014 semester. Applications are available in the church office or online at MennoniteInsurance.com and click on the Scholarship tab. HARTLAND CHRISTIAN CAMP has two special weekends coming up! Memorial Day Weekend Family Camp is May Dadz & Kidz Camp is June 6-8. Both of these camps will be a great time to relax, play, learn, and enjoy some quality time with your family. For more information and registration go to or call MISSION OPPORTUNITY Craig and Debbe Haley will be returning to Kalibo, Philippines in July. You can help them bless people there by collecting the following items to take: *Hotel soaps, shampoos, *Old calendars and greeting cards (for the pictures), *Odds & ends of scrapbooking paper, stickers, jewels, etc. You can put these items in the box in the foyer any time between now and July 15th. Because You Prayed: Nineteen believers were baptized in Burkina Faso on Easter Sunday, Robert Wohl is doing very well, the L.A. Mission Trip was a moving experience for the High School Group, Judy Cates is recovering at home, Skip Penner has a new job, three boys accepted Christ at AWANA this past week and the NKCS BBQ was a great event (Psalm 32:1-2)! Health Needs: Continue to pray for Isaiah Grooman (infection), Johnny Penner (broken ribs, rehab) and Judy Cates (severe burns, low blood pressure) as they recover (Psalm 149:1). Church Life and Ministries: Remember the Council as they meet this Tuesday and the AWANA Awards Night this coming Wednesday (II Timothy 2:15). Community, National and International Concerns: Lift up the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the recent violent storms in our country (II Corinthians 1:3-4). MB MISSION *Church Prayer Bulletin* Please pray for MB Mission workers, Alan & Colleen Foster, as they serve among indigenous people in eastern Panama. Pray for their work in sanitation and health education, as well as their relationships with local church leaders (I John 4:7).
