Praise & Petitions April 15, 2018 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love (I Corinthians 13:13). Because You Prayed: Adele Young is home from rehab (ankle surgery), the North Kern Christian School Spring Concert was a great evening and the Lord continues to give us new opportunities to share His love in the community (I Corinthians 13:13)! Health Needs: Continue to pray for Ruth Ratzlaff (hip surgery), Ron Melendrez (esophagus surgery), Judy Neufeld (knee replacement rehab), Doug Peters (hospice), Alicia Beckett (lung transplant, thigh infection), Stacy Coyle (cancer treatments), Julie Scales (West Nile Virus rehab), Joe and Carol Hannah (dementia/stroke), and Pastor Madou (cracked lumbar vertebrae), as they are cared for (Psalm 18:1-2). Church Life and Ministries: Lift up the Christian Education Board as they meet this week and also the Women s Ministries Spring Brunch this coming Saturday (John 8:12). Community, National and International Concerns: Remember the many international leaders working towards a solution to the ongoing civil war in Syria (Daniel 2:20-23). MB Mission: VR (Restricted) Pray for: The MB Mission team in Zaporozhye, Ukraine Meaningful relational encounters during language and culture studies Ongoing excursion to restricted regions of Central Asia (Acts 1:8).

4 SHARING YOUR STORY Sunday, April 29 6:00-8:00 PM SMBC Dining Room Do you know people you would love to see come to know Jesus, but perhaps struggle with how that might happen? One very effective way is to share your story of faith in Jesus. You re invited to be a part of learning to share your story of faith effectively and see many more people come to Jesus through relationships like you! In our time together we will learn several key concepts of sharing our faith in Christ: Pastor Pat Coyle April 15, 2018 Center Church: Action Steps (Romans 12:9-21) When a person comes to understand the significance of their faith, it causes them to take actions that reflect it, especially love. Faith becomes more than an expression of beliefs; it becomes a call to action to make us more like Jesus. Actions steps include: Walking in love with others (vv. 9-16) How to tell your story of faith Ways to identify where someone might be spiritually Biblical ways to pray for those who don t know Jesus Walking in peace with others (vv ) Outreach as a Team Sport S H A R E Y O U R S T O R Y Center Church: All material will be provided. 5 FRANKLIN GRAHAM IS COMING TO BAKERSFIELD Please be in prayer for the Franklin Graham Rally on May 25, 2018 at Spectrum Amphitheater at Riverwalk Park in Bakersfield. Bring your friends and join us as we pray for California and our nation and enjoy a message of hope from Franklin Graham and live music, including Jeremy Camp. There are a number of ways to get involved in the Franklin Graham Rally. Go to to find out more. OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AT FRANKLIN GRAHAM RALLY There will be a Christian Life and Witness Class for people who want to assist others to come to faith in Christ as Franklin Graham calls them to come forward on May 25. The CLWC is set for 6:00 pm,, April 24 at Riverlakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway Dr. in Bakersfield. This course is required for anyone who wants to serve as a Prayer Counselor. At least 200 people are needed to serve in this way. Contact the church office at if you would like to attend this class WASCO-SHAFTER RELAY FOR LIFE - APRIL 28 We are having the Relay For Life again on April 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Wasco HS Track. All are welcome to come have some good food and help fight the disease that has seemingly affected everyone in some way or another. Any cancer survivors are welcome to come to the Survivor Dinner on April 12 at 6:00 PM at Westside Church on Palm Ave. in Wasco. We like to honor those who are battling the disease at the dinner and also at the event itself with the first lap at 10:00 AM. Those who would like to help can contribute to our team Not Home Yet by making a check to American Cancer Society and getting it to any of our team members (Bill Gehle, Helen Gaede, Deanna Peters or Rick Penner). Thanks for your support. A study of James begins April 22. LADIES FELLOWSHIP & QUILT TYING is this, April 17 at 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Center. All ladies are invited to join in the fun, no quilting experience needed! AWANA NEED We need a Cubbies Director for next year. SMBC BACKPACK TRIP The Annual Backpack Trip with Pastor Pat has been set for Friday-Sunday, August 10-12, This is an easy to moderate hike in the Kaiser Wilderness above Fresno and is open to men, women and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited so reserve your spot with a $5 non-refundable deposit to the church office by July 1. USMB NATIONAL CONVENTION July 24-28, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah Our theme is: Celebrating our Diversity and Unity "You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Cor. 12:27. Join together with Mennonite Brethren from across the United States as we gather this summer to celebrate our diversity and the mission that unites us.
