FOR THE CHILDREN - Children s Church is available each Sunday morning for children 4 years old through 3rd grade. We will continue through the summer. Watch the screen for dismissal time. NURSERY is available for children under 4 years old during Sunday School and Worship Service. Nursery workers for today are Von Unruh and Davey Bloemhof. SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP FUND We have a number of kids that need help to get to summer camp this year. If you would like to give to the Camp Scholarship Fund please contact the church office. SUMMER INTERNS Once again this summer we are blessed to have two wonderful interns; MaKenna Cummings and Molly Enns! They will be serving in a variety of ministries here at SMBC as well as in Community Development with Melissa Bergen. Their support comes from three sources; the SMBC budget, the PDC and the SMBC Intern Fund. Their combined need in our Intern Fund is $3200 and you're invited to be part of that. Please keep them both in prayer as they serve and also consider supporting them financially this summer. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY If you are a member or regular attender of a Mennonite Brethren, Mennonite, Brethren in Christ, or Missionary Church on the West Coast and attend a college or graduate school on the West Coast and will be at least a college junior, you could be eligible to receive a $1000 scholarship from Mennonite Insurance Services (your home and auto insurance company). USMB NATIONAL CONVENTION July 24-28, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah Our theme is: Celebrating our Diversity and Unity "You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Cor. 12:27. Join together with Mennonite Brethren from across the United States as we gather this summer to celebrate our diversity and the mission that unites us. Registration forms are available in the church foyer or online at USMB Convention This year Children s Church has been exploring We now have access to many bible stories. Which are broken down into 3 sessions each. It s a wonderful format to assist our volunteers in sharing wonderful Old Testament images combined with relevant life lessons. CE Board is requesting a Wifi capable laptop. This would allow the leaders to show each episode on the already existing TV available. 5 VBS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Anyone interested in volunteering at the Community VBS at Valley Bible Church on July 9-13 please contact Melany Millwee at Childcare will be provided for VBS workers, including a pre-school program. FLY FISHING The Men s Ministries of SMBC will be sponsoring a fun day of Fly Fishing on the Kern River on Saturday, July 21. This is open to ANYONE who would like to try their hand at fly fishing...men, women, boys, girls, beginners or pros! Coaching for fly fishing will be available. Meet at the church at 4:00 am (the early bird gets the fish!). Contact Alan Butterfield at for more info. SMBC BACKPACK TRIP The Annual Backpack Trip with Pastor Pat has been set for Friday-Sunday, August 10-12, This is an easy to moderate hike in the Kaiser Wilderness above Fresno and is open to men, women and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited so reserve your spot with a $5 non-refundable deposit to the church office by July 1. NEED FOR THE PHILIPPINES Craig and Debbe Haley will be going to the Philippines at the end of October and would like to take a bunch of hotel toiletries to the people they will be ministering to. Soon we will start collecting hotel soaps and shampoos so please start saving them now. Praise & Petitions June 24, 2018 But God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Because You Prayed: Bob Wiebe is doing great (knee replacement) and the Lord continues to give us opportunities to Share Our Story with those who don t know Jesus (Acts 1:8)! Health Needs: Continue to pray for Pastor Grayson (enlarged liver), Ruth Ratzlaff (rehab, infection), Mary Lou Gonzalez (cancer treatments), Pam Garcia (back surgery), Stan Loewen (knee replacement), Julie Scales (West Nile Virus rehab), Ron Melendrez (esophagus surgery), Alicia Beckett (lung transplant, thigh infection), Stacy Coyle (cancer treatments), Joe and Carol Hannah (dementia/nph rehab), and Pastor Madou (back pain) as they are cared for (Psalm 34:1-3). Church Life and Ministries: Lift up the Deacons as they meet this week and the Hartland Junior Camp through Friday (Psalm 33:1-5). Community, National and International Concerns: Remember the President and other National leaders as they continue to wrestle with the issue of immigration reform (Psalm 33:12-15). JUNIOR HIGH SUMMER CAMP - July 8-13 HIGH SCHOOL SWIM NIGHTS All High Schoolers are invited to come have some Summer Fun tonight from 7-9 pm at Pastor Brent s home, 305 Bree Dr. We will swim and eat ice cream so bring your swimsuits, towels and some friends! July 7 - High School Saturday Swim Night at Eli & Missy Espericueta s, 7:30-9:30 pm. THE COLLEGE/CAREER SINGLES are invited to Bowling Night this Saturday, June 30 at the Firehouse restaurant on Calloway in Rosedale. Meet at Ryan and Patti Hiebert s home at 6:00 pm and we will carpool for a fun evening of dinner & bowling. SMBC WRESTLING CAMP The 2018 SMBC Wrestling Camp will be held Monday - Friday, July from 10 am - 12pm in the Fellowship Center gym and is open to all incoming Kindergarten to 6th grade children. Pastor Pat will be the camp instructor. On Friday, July 20, at 7pm, there will be an exhibition match and dessert. The cost of the camp is $15 and includes a t-shirt, team picture, medal, certificate, and snacks. Sign-up by July 1, forms are available in the church foyer and office. PRAYER FOR OUR CHURCH They devoted themselves to prayer.. Acts 2:42 The first Christians, the first Church, spent time praying together. You are invited to come and pray and lift our Church to the Lord. Each Sunday morning in June there will be members from the Deacon Board in the Fireside room at 10:00 AM. This is not a meeting, program, or class, it is a time to individually ask The Holy Spirit to use us and guide us as a Church. You are welcome to join us.
