O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near; Join me in glad adoration! 3 Why Do We Do That? Singing these particular songs: We believe that scripture allows us to sing a variety of songs from all times and seasons in church history (Col. 3:16). In our church we practice a blended style with a mix of ancient and modern hymns as well as some contemporary songs. As we sing songs from the history of the church we connect with our past. As we sing songs from the present day we connect with churches around us who worship the same God. We sing these particular songs because we believe they are centered around God and the gospel, not us. Also, they must be explicity about the God of the Bible and not so vague as to leave us wondering who we re really singing about. Lastly, the style and tune must be accessible to all who gather for worship at our church, enabling us to worship in a way that is familiar, yet also preferential those who are comfortable in other traditions (Rom. 12:10, 1 Cor. 14:26). 5 Announcements for the week of June 4, 2017 Thank you for your patience during the transition to our new building. It is a work in progress. Please do not hang anything on the walls without prior approval. Guidelines will be coming out soon. Summer Sunday School: The Exile & Return - Esther, Ezra & Nehemiah. We will learn of God s faithfulness to His covenant people in the story of Esther; how God saved them from satanic inspired annihilation. Then, in Ezra and Nehemiah we will witness God s promise fulfilled through the mouth of Jeremiah: God indeed brought His people back into the land during a time of both conflict, and unprecedented spiritual renewal. June 4th - August 13th Taught by Greg Baney VBS Registration: We have had an overwhelming response for VBS registration. If you would like to have your child attend, we encourage you to sign up now. We may reach our limit this year so reserve your place today. Youth Dinner Auction Fundraiser: Thank you to all who participated! If you have not yet heard about dinners you won or guests who won a dinner you re hosting, please see Morgan. All donations are now due. A new worship team has been formed as we have been looking at our current ministries. If you have any input or feedback please see Mark Kessel. Little Seekers Day School: As a ministry of our church, we want to involve you in the exciting start up of the Little Seekers Day School. We are currently recruiting teacher s aides for the classrooms. We are seeking to recruit ten volunteer aides to keep the commitment to just six hours a week. If you are interested in serving our church in this way, please apply on the church website. However, we know that everyone will not like everything. You would have done some things differently, and that s okay. However, all of the work was done by our people who worked exceptionally hard and made the best choices they could. So, please be mindful to offer encouragement where you can and consider saying nothing if you don t have anything nice to say.
