Pat Coyle November 4, 2018 Believe: Food and Water (John 6:1-24) Jesus had a way of using ordinary items to perform extraordinary miracles. His goal was not only to demonstrate His greatness, but also to lead people to believe in Him. Food and water remind us of: Jesus divine provision (vv. 1-15) Jesus divine power (vv ) Because We Believe:

3 Praise & Petitions November 4, 2018 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided (Genesis 22:14). Because You Prayed: The Fall Garage Sale went great, John Wiebe s foot is healing well and the Lord continues to give us new opportunities to share his love (John 3:16)! We praise the Lord for His protection over Kathy Wentz who was in a serious car accident this past week but had no serious injuries! Health Needs: Continue to pray for Stacy Coyle (cancer treatments), Julie Scales (stroke rehab), Jazmin Hall (cancer treatments), Camilla Tarry (chemo treatments), Doris Unruh (fractured pelvis) and Jeremy Jones (auto accident) as they are cared for (Psalm 84:9). Church Life and Ministries: Lift up the Council as they meet this week, the Shafter High FCA Club s Fields of Faith on and North Kern Christian School s annual Fundraising Dinner next Saturday. Also remember the families of Jim Gloeckler and Bill Gehle with their recent passing (Genesis 22:14). Community, National and International Concerns: Remember our nation as mid-term elections take place this coming week (Psalm 86:9-10). MB Mission - Joanna Chapa in Peru Pray for: Church leadership support and discipleship strategies Training and equipping of young leaders (I Timothy 4:12) ELECTION DAY is this, November 6. This Election is important so be sure to pray for the Lord s guidance first... then go vote! NKCS FUNDRAISER BANQUET - NOVEMBER 10 North Kern Christian School invites you to celebrate with them at their 2018 Fundraising Banquet. This special event will be held on Saturday, November 10 from 5:30-7:30 pm at NKCS, 710 Peters Street, Wasco. Former administrator, Jay Ables will be the guest speaker. The evening will also include a delicious dinner, a silent auction for themed gift baskets, and a chance to purchase a harvest basket to decorate your holiday table. Donations will be accepted for NKCS Scholarship Fund. Dinner tickets are $25 each or a table of 8 for $180. Call NKCS at by Nov. 5 to make your reservations. OUR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH PIE SOCIAL FUNDRAISER is Sunday, November 18 at 3:30 pm as part of the SMBC 100th Celebration. We are expecting a large number of people that afternoon and so we are in need of a little help providing pies. If you would like to help by baking or providing a pie or two please sign up in the church foyer or contact the church office. CHILD DEDICATON We will be having Child Dedication next Sunday, November 11, during the morning Worship Service. If you would like to have your child/children dedicated on that Sunday please contact the church office by, November 7. SMBC WRESTLING INVITATIONAL On Saturday, November 17 we will be hosting our third annual SMBC Invitational Wrestling Tournament. This is a great opportunity to welcome many families on to our campus and serve our community. We will need approximately 10 helpers for the day which will include setting up and taking down tables and chairs, keeping time and score for matches, receiving spectator fees and helping with a snack bar. If you d like to be part of this ministry, please indicate SMBC Invitational on a blue card or call the church office. MENNONITE DISASTER SERVICE is in need of volunteers to build a house to replace one lost to recent fires around Lake Isabella. Volunteers are needed the weeks of Nov. 12 & Nov. 26. Please call Roger Riley at if you can give a day, a few days, or a week to help make this house weather tight before Christmas. HUME LAKE HIGH SCHOOL WINTER CAMP Winter camp for High School students is February 22-24, A $25 deposit will save you a spot so to get that in to Pastor Brent soon if you plan on going.

4 MARRIAGE Jay and Carol Kroeker announce the marriage of their daughter, DeeAnn, to Dr. Brian Edick, son of Stan and Janice Edick, on Saturday, October 27 at a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Edna Valley, Calif. The newlyweds will make their home in Shafter. Congratulations to the happy couple! WITH SYMPATHY Jim Gloeckler, 94, went home to be with the Lord early in the morning on October 26. A graveside service was held on October 30 at Shafter Memorial Park followed by a lunch at the church. Please keep his daughters Beverly and Barbara and their families in your prayers. Bill Gehle went home to his heavenly Father on October 30 while at his home. A Memorial Service was held yesterday, November 3 at SMBC. Please keep his family, including his children John Gehle and Mary Lara, and their families, and John & Nancy Enns and family in your prayers. Gifts may be given in Bill s memory to Shafter MB Youth. Dear SMBC Family Thank you so much for your many expressions of appreciation to our families during "Pastor Appreciation Month." RV PARKING NEEDED There is a need for RV parking on the weekend of the SMBC Centennial Celebration for some out of town guests. If you have room on your property to accommodate a 5th wheel trailer with access to electricity and water and would like to offer it for the weekend of November please contact the church office.
