Frankie Siemens, a longtime member of SMBC, went home to be with the Lord on February 9 at the age of 96. Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, with a graveside at Shafter Cemetery at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at SMBC at 11:00 am. A lunch will follow in the Dining Room. Memorial gifts in Frankie s name can be made to Hoffman Hospice or to Fresno Pacific University. Please keep the family in your prayers. Karen Reimer s father, Harry Thiessen, 91, went to his heavenly home on February 11 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada. A memorial service was held on February 16 at the MB Church in St. Catherines. Remember Karen & Virgil, Karen s mother Pepper, and the rest of the family in your prayers. 3 Pat Coyle February 17, 2019 Believe: The Gate and Good Shepherd (John 10:1-21) Jesus is God s way of entering into his eternal pasture as well as the shepherd who cares for his followers. Learning to trust and follow the shepherd of our souls is critical for living out our faith. The Gate and Good Shepherd are: The only way to God s pasture (vv. 1-10) The only way to spiritual growth (vv ) Living in God s Pasture: PRESIDENT S DAY HOLIDAY is tomorrow. The church office will be closed. LADIES FELLOWSHIP will meet to tie quilts this Tuesday, February 19, at 1:00 pm in the Dining Room. All ladies are invited, no quilting experience needed! NEWSLETTER DEADLINE Articles and announcements for the March SMBC Spotlight Newsletter are due in the church office by, February 20. TIME OF PRAYER On Sunday, March 3, we will have a special Time of Prayer during the Sunday School hour from 9:30-10:30 am in the adult classes. All adults are encouraged to attend. If you are not currently in a Sunday School class please come to room B4 in the basement for the Time of Prayer. Children s classes will meet as usual. The weekly 9:00 am prayer in the Bride s Room will not meet on March 3. BPC ANNUAL FUNDRAISER DINNER Life, Liberty and Happiness is the theme for this year s Bakersfield Pregnancy Center s Annual Fundraising Dinner being held on Tuesday, February 26 at 6:00 pm at Olive Knolls Church in Bakersfield. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Aleva King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King. Dinner is complimentary with an opportunity to make a financial gift. Children 14 and older, please (seating is limited). Because You Prayed: Both Arly Feil and Don Neufeld had successful surgeries and the Lord continues to bless us with rain (Psalm 147:8-9))! Health Needs: Continue to pray for Julie Scales (stroke rehab), Jazmin Hall (cancer treatments), Camilla Tarry (radiation treatments), Jeremy Jones (auto accident), Shirley Caulfield (knee surgery), Pam Garcia (neck surgery), Arly Feil (back surgery) and Don Neufeld (knee replacement surgery) as they are cared for (Psalm 95:1-2). Church Life and Ministries: Lift up the Christian Education Board as they meet this week and our High School group going to Hume Winter Camp this coming weekend. Also remember the family of Karen Reimer with the recent loss of her father, Harry Thiessen (Psalm 95:3). Community, National and International Concerns: Remember those areas dealing with flooding and mud slides due to recent fires and rain (Psalm 95:4-5).
