1 April 8, 2018 FIRST SUNDAY AFTER EASTER Invest in our community Invite to our church Involve in our small group Invest in our community by being a servant leader in schools, drama, athletics, and service organizations. Meet friends, then casually mention Oak Grove in conversation and invite them to a particular event at Oak Grove. Welcome all of our guests when you see them and help involve them in the life and ministry of Oak Grove.

2 April 8, :30 and 11 a.m. ORDER OF WORSHIP Second Sunday in Easter Gathering Music Come, Ye Faithful Robert Hughes Welcome and Announcements (Please complete and pass the red friendship pad at this time) Dr. Glenn Ethridge Call to Worship (11:00) Take Me to the Water arr. Rollo Dillworth Agnes Scott Collegiate Chorale Dr. Elise Eskew Sparks, Conductor *Hymn of Praise Crown Him with Many Crowns UMH 327 *Affirmation of Faith 1 Corinthians 15:1-6 and Colossians 1:15-20 Dr. Joseph McBrayer This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit. Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross reconciles all things to God. Amen. A Morning Prayer and The Lord s Prayer Dr. McBrayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Our Tithes & Offerings (8:30) Be Known to Us in Breaking Bread John Dykes (11:00) By the Rivers of Babylon Susan Brumfield Agnes Scott Collegiate Chorale *Doxology UMH 94 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts! Praise Jesus Christ, whose power up lifts! Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! (Following the Doxology at 11:00 a.m., children in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade may leave for Children s Church. Pick up is in room 227.)

3 Scripture Luke 24:28-35 Mr. John Weatherford The Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God. Sermon He is Here Dr. Morgan Holy Communion A Service of Word and Table II UMH 12 The sacrament of communion is a sign and means of receiving God's grace. Therefore communion, like grace itself, is available to all people without regard to age, church membership status, relationship to Oak Grove, or denominational affiliation. The table belongs to God, so all are welcome. There is a mobile station for worshipers who prefer to be served in their seats. If you prefer gluten-free elements, please go to the station to the left of the pulpit. You are always welcome to choose any station by simply walking to the station of your choice. Once you receive the bread, please dip it in the grape juice in the chalice. In our tradition worshipers do not drink from the chalice. After receiving communion you may kneel at the chancel to pray or return to your seat. Anthem (11:00) As the Rain Hides the Stars Elaine Hagenberg Agnes Scott Collegiate Chorale *Sending Hymn Leaning on the Everlasting Arms UMH 133 (Those who wish to join the church are invited to come forward.) *Benediction Dr. Morgan Choral Response (11:00) The Storm Is Passing Over arr. UMH: United Methodist Hymnal / TFWS: The Faith We Sing Large print hymnals and bulletins and hearing assistance devices are available from an usher. Children s worship bags are available in the narthex and parlor side door. Nursery care is available in room 123.
