2 WELCOME TO FIRST CHURCH We are delighted that you have chosen to worship with us this Easter Season. Founded in 1821, First Church is the oldest Protestant church in the area and the oldest Methodist church in Florida. This historic church, with four regular Sunday services, has a membership of 3200 and is overflowing with life. If you are visiting, we hope that you will consider becoming a member of our church family. You may join any Sunday by profession of faith or transfer of membership. Come and be a part of what God is doing here in our Year of Missions. EASTER We are now in the season of Easter (also called Easter Time or Eastertide). Easter is a 50-day season that began on Resurrection Sunday and lasts until the coming of the fiftieth day, Pentecost Sunday (May 20). During this festal season we focus on celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Join with us throughout this Easter Season as we continue our celebration. The Lord is risen indeed! NURSERY & CHILDREN S BULLETINS Nursery is available this morning for children up to five years old. If you need help locating the nursery, please see an usher or greeter for assistance. Also, children s worship bulletins and crayons are available in the narthex. VISITOR / NEW MEMBER CLASS We welcome all visitors and new members that are interested in learning more about First Church to an introductory class that consists of four parts. The class assembles at 9:30am in room PH101 next door in the Perry Home. Today s class, Introduction to First Church, gives you an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the history, theology, worship, and membership of this great church. Next week, Ministries of First Church is about all the programs and ministries of the church. On April 15, Serving at First Church will help you find your place to use your gifts and talents in service in the church and community. Join us each week. FLOWERS The flowers in the Sanctuary today are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Duane Leary on the occasion of Risa and Duane s wedding anniversary on April 11. NEXT WEEK AT FIRST CHURCH Join us next week here at First Church as we come together to worship God on the Third Sunday of Easter. Dr. Wachob will preach at the 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00am worship services here in the Main Sanctuary. The Rev. Brandon Bures will preach at the ICON worship service at 11:00am in Wesley Abbey. Next week s scriptures: Acts 3:12-19; Psalm 4; 1 John 3:1-7; Luke 24:36b-48.

5 TODAY S LECTIONARY SCRIPTURES First Lesson: Acts 10: In his sermon to Cornelius, Peter recounts the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. He also affirms the command to preach the good news of forgiveness to those who believe. Psalm: 133. The psalmist tells how unity among the people of God is like an anointing by God. Second Lesson: 1 John 1:1 2:2. The writer proclaims Jesus as the Light which God spoke into darkness. The reader is called to walk in the light in order to have fellowship and be delivered from sin. Gospel Lesson: John 20: Jesus appears to the ten disciples in Jerusalem and bestows upon them the Holy Spirit. Thomas doubting the good news is transformed into a statement of faith.
