LSB 980, Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us With Your Love, comes from the country Ghana in Africa. Jesu meaning Jesus is pronounced Yēsu. NEW LUTHERAN WITNESS for February is now available in the narthex. NEW ADDRESS DIRECTORY - It s time to update your address and phone numbers! There are copies in the narthex and at the welcome center. Please double check your information and/or make changes as needed. New directories will be available for pick-up the weekend of February 26/27. Please call Chris in the church office ( ) if you have any questions or concerns. ROSES ON THE ALTAR are in honor of: Rita Priebe who is celebrating her 78th birthday on Saturday, February 12. Polly Cunningham who is celebrating her 87th birthday on Tuesday, February 15. FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR are in honor of Helen Lenz who will celebrate her 91st birthday on Wednesday, February 16. VALENTINE DINNER - Those who have signed up to come may come anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Please note: If you signed up your child(ren) for childcare they will be receiving a meal as well. NEW MEMBER WELCOME Sunday, February 27 New members will be received during the 8 am service and re-introduced at the beginning of the 10:40 am service. Plan to join us between services to greet and welcome our new members. ANNUAL ALTAR GUILD MEETING The Annual Meeting of the Altar Guild will be on Saturday, February 19, from 9 to 10 am, in the Chapel Childcare will be available! If you currently serve on the Altar Guild or are interested in their work and possibly joining, please plan to attend! New Sunday Adult Bible Classes February 20 - March 13 HEALTH CABINET FORUMS The topics to be presented are: February 20 - "Parkinson's Disease", by Dr. Eric Ahlskog, Mayo Clinic Neurology Consultant (Look for more information under Health Notes.) February 27 - "Exercise for a Healthy Life", by Dr. Carmen Terzic, Mayo Clinic Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Consultant March 6 - "Women's Health Issues", Olmsted Medical Group Consultant March 13 - "Stroke: Risk Factors, Warning Signs, Evaluation and Treatment", by Dr. Robert Brown, mayo Clinic Neurology Consultant THE MYSTERIOUS HOLY SPIRIT The class will look at what the Scriptures tell us about the third person of the Holy Trinity, who is often overlooked. We will look at gifts of the Spirit, their use and abuse. JOSHUA (continuing) Joshua has often been called a type of Christ figure, and even his Hebrew name is the same name as the one we call Jesus. This Old Testament book of the Bible contains the redemption story of what took place after the Exodus, Joshua leading God s people into war, the Battle of Jericho, and finally arriving in the Promised Land. FRIENDSHIP TREE - Sponsored by the RLCW, the month of February is our annual ingathering of baby items for local charities. Please remove a heart form the Friendship Tree, purchase the item, and place in the collection box near the tree. Used items in good and clean condition are also welcome. CHRISTCARE 10th Anniversary Celebration will be Sunday, March 20. This is for ChristCare participants, and also for any who would like a taste of ChristCare. 2 Week of

3 EQUIPPING THE SAINTS... In Ephesians 4 Paul talks about pastors and other leaders as gifts God has given the church to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. Stephen Ministry has given us an organized way to equip those gifted for caring ministry so that they can build up the body of Christ by providing Christian care and support to those experiencing a difficult time. Currently we have 3 more individuals training to become Stephen Ministers. Please include them, as well as all pastors and leaders in the work of ministry at Redeemer, in your prayers. UPCOMING Youth Events! B.R.I.G.H.T. Night Site! Smile, Jesus Loves You! 1 st through 6 th Graders can sign up on the table in the narthex to join the fun! On Wednesday nights, 7:00-8:00pm in L-2 the children will be learning about some of the lesser heard stories in the Bible and how each of those stories show Jesus love. The children will get into the stories and make crafts and snacks that are connected to what they are learning. BRIGHT Night starts February 16 and ends March 23. FEBRUARY 13 Youth Valentines Dinner Plan to be here! FEBRUARY 20 Shout! In February we are going to love our neighbors here at Redeemer by doing some projects. Sounds boring? Well it won t be! DON T FORGET TO WEAR AN UGLY SWEATER!!!! There will be prizes! JUNE CHICAGO MISSION TRIP!!! We are past the early bird deadline. If you sign up now your cost will be $150! Still a great deal! Registration closes February 20! JULY VBS We need great youth helpers for this too! JULY Bethesda Sign up is going up for this as well! 4 PARKINSON S DISEASE Definition by Mayo Clinic staff : Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement. It develops gradually, often starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. But while tremor may be the most well-known sign of Parkinson's disease, the disorder also commonly causes a slowing or freezing of movement. Friends and family may notice that your face shows little or no expression and your arms don't swing when you walk. Speech often becomes soft and mumbling. Parkinson's symptoms tend to worsen as the disease progresses. While there is no cure for Parkinson's disease, many different types of medicines can treat its symptoms. In some cases, your doctor may suggest surgery. Next Sunday, February 20th during the Bible Class Hour, Dr. Eric Ahlskog, Mayo Clinic Neurology Consultant, will discuss Parkinson s Disease. Don t miss this informative presentation. Know that you should exercise, but are unable to get anywhere for exercise? Sit and Be Fit is on at 10:30 am each morning on KMSQ (public television) channel 13. There are standing and chair exercises for strengthening and for improving flexibility, and balance.
