After 31 weeks we come to the conclusion of our journey through The Story of God s people as revealed in the Scriptures. The book of Revelation reminds us of the message we have heard many times. 2 Redeemer Lutheran Churchh th Avenue SE Rochester, MN P: C: If we say we have no sin, we deceivee ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination. P: C: P: C: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinfull and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (1) The revelation of Jesus Christ, whichh God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. 4 Redeemer Lutheran Churchh th Avenue SE Rochester, MN one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed aree those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. 9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos becausee of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 On the Lord s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11 which said: Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. 11 (19) I saw heaven standing open and there before mee was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and hiss name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this namee written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. (21) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for thee first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. 22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, forr the glory of God gives it 24 light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk byy its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates everr be shut, for there will be no night 26 there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb s book of life. (22) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer willl there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and hiss servants willl serve him. 4 They will seee his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. Revelation 1:1-3,9-11; 19:11-16; 21:1-4, 22-27; 22:1-5 L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. (Please stand to sing.) -4-

12 NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL CAREGIVER MONTH Caregiver stress: Tips for taking care of yourself - Part 1 By Mayo Clinic staff Caring for a loved one can be a strain on even the most resilient individuals. If you're a caregiver, take steps to preserve your own health and well-being. When you hear the word "caregiver" you probably picture someone caring for a parent with Alzheimer's disease. But a caregiver is anyone who provides help to another person in need, whether that's an ill spouse or partner, a disabled child, or an aging relative. Indeed, more than 65 million Americans provide care to a loved one. If you're among them, you know that taking care of someone who needs your assistance can be very rewarding. But it can also exact a high toll, and caregiver stress is common. Caregiver stress is the emotional and physical strain of caregiving. Individuals who experience the most caregiver stress are the most vulnerable to a decline in their own health. Many caregivers fall into the trap of believing that they have to do everything by themselves. Don't make that mistake. Take advantage of the many resources and tools available. Remember, if you don't take care of yourself you won't be able to care for anyone else. Signs of caregiver stress As a caregiver, you may be so focused on your loved one that you don't realize that your own health and well-being are suffering. Watch for these signs of caregiver stress: Feeling tired most of the time Feeling overwhelmed and irritable Sleeping too much or too little Gaining or losing a lot of weight Losing interest in activities you used to enjoy Too much stress, especially over a long time, can harm your health. As a caregiver, you're more likely to experience symptoms of depression or anxiety. In addition, you may not get enough physical activity or eat a balanced diet, which only increases your risk of medical problems, such as heart dis-ease and diabetes. All these program items amount to about 13% of our budget. Your offerings make it all possible. Correction from last week: Our mortgage accounts for 12% of our budget needs. 14 YOU CAN HELP! On Saturday, November 17, redeemer member Jess Ihrke will be participating in a Mud Run to raise funds for FOP Research. Runners are asked to collect pledges as they complete in the 7- mile off road race on a trail that runs through rugged terrain, numerous creeks and streams, fields, and steep embankments. FOP is an extremely rare and debilitating medical condition where extra bone forms in muscles and other soft tissues of the body, progressively restricting movement. If you would like more information, please see the flyer on the bulletin board in the narthex. If you have questions or would like to make a donation, please contact Jess Ihrke at or jess.ihrke@gmail.com. CHANGE IN HOSPITAL POLICY Mayo Clinic is no longer giving pastors access to the list of those who are hospitalized. So, please call the office if you or a loved one is in the hospital. We want to visit, but will not know unless you tell us. (It has always been this way at Olmsted.) Join us for SALVATION ARMY bell ringing NOVEMBER 14! Redeemer Lutheran Church is scheduled to ring the bell on November 14, 2012 from 10:00am 8:00 pm inside the mall entrance by TJ Maxx. (Located at 1300 Salem Rd SW) Please consider assisting by signing up on the sheet found in the Narthex. This is a great way to spend some time with family and friends and help those in need. The Red Kettle Christmas Campaign enables The Salvation Army to provide food, toys and clothing to over 6 million people during the Christmas season and helps more than 34 million Americans recovering from all kinds of personal disasters nationwide.
