3 Redeemer Lutheran Churchh th Avenue SE Rochester, MN P: C: P: C: The Risen Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray: Almighty God, throughh Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us all. Help us to live every day and everywhere in the confidence and hope of our Risen Savior and the promise His resurrection gives to us all; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen (Please be seated.) ANTHEM (8:00 am) Introit For Easter Quartet SCRIPTURE READINGS L: The First Reading for Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost is from Romans the sixth chapter. 1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no 3 means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over 10 him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:1-11 L: C: Christ is risen! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia! EPISTLE READING L: The Second Reading is from the fifteenth chapter r of 1 Corinthians. 12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection off the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your 15 faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified -3-
4 Redeemer Lutheran Churchh th Avenue SE Rochester, MN about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has nott been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. 20 But Christ has indeedd been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a 22 man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15: :12-22 L: C: Christ is risen! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia! (Please stand.) All sing: He lives, all glory to His name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same; Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives! (LSB 461, st. 8) (*) HOLY GOSPEL L: The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the twenty-eighth chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord. 1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of thee week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, goingg to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 Hiss appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place wheree he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: Hee has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. Theree you will seee him. Now I have told you. 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. Greetings, he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, Do not bee afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me. Matthew 28:1-10 L: C: Christ is risen! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia! (Please be seated.) -4-

15 Blessed to Serve Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the Music Ministry Redeemer is blessed to have such active members involved in our Music Ministry! There are many groups for all ages to be involved in: Sounds of Praise, Chancel Chimes, Instruments of Praise, Redeemer Brass, Celebration Team, Men s Choir, Seasonal Small Groups, Youth Choir, Youth Chimes, Alleluia Singers, Angelic Chimes, and Cherub Choir. Most of you get to experience this blessing as groups share and uplift God s word in song during worship. Your offerings make it possible to compensate the directors and accompanists as well as purchase new music! Besides the groups that meet regularly, the Sunday school classes also meet and sing at some point during the year as well as learn music for the Christmas program. There are also opportunities for solo or small groups for vocal or instrumental players. We also have the joy to share the good news to our shut-ins through Christmas Caroling. There are many worship services here at Redeemer, Saturday and two on Sunday, as well as the Thursday night services from the beginning of May through the end of September and the two additional weekly services during Advent and Lent. Your offerings make it possible to have someone lead music for all those services. Many churches are not blessed to have the funds to staff a Director of Parish Music, your offerings make this position possible! Behind the scenes, there is much preparation done to play for worship and direct choirs: many hours are spent practicing, picking out prelude music, practicing, listening, planning, preparing, and studying the music chosen for groups, actual rehearsal time with the groups, lesson planning for rehearsals, scheduling groups to play for worship, working with the Music and Worship ministry team to select hymns for worship, time spent communicating with various groups, directors, soloists, practicing, filing music, and more practicing! Your offerings of time and talent make the Music Ministry possible and your fiscal offerings amount to about 9% of our budget needs! Thanks to all! 9 Week of
