Note that there are two glasses in the center of each tray with diluted wine. ABOUT THE LORD S SUPPER: Our congregation is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a family of congregations who pledge themselves to teach and to believe the same doctrines. We invite those persons who are members in good standing of a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod or of a church in fellowship with the LCMS to receive the sacrament. We want to express our sincere welcome to guests and to assure them that it is in their spiritual interest that we practice closed communion. 3 EDUCATION HOUR TODAY Adult Bible Class - God s Word for Today, Pastor Caithamer, fellowship hall Adult Bible Class - Lutheranism 101, Pastor Elliott, 4A Sunday School - Opening for 3 year olds through High School will be in the sanctuary. 3 yr old - K Room 4C 1 st - 4 th Grade Room 1C 5 th - 7 th Grade Room 3C High School Youth Room Sign up to help summer Sunday School. Sign-up sheets are on the blue bulletin board outside the fellowship hall. Sign up for a week or more. Hymn Sing - We will have a hymn sing before the 8:00 service Sunday, July 20 th, and before the 10:45 service Sunday, August 3 rd. You may request hymns and place them in the basket in the overflow. Please note which service you are requesting for. Camp CILCA has summer camp openings for all weeks. Register on line at Hospital Visits - If any of our members are in the hospital and would like a visit from the pastor, please contact the church office. Summer Office Hours - The church office will be 10:00am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday; the School Office will be 8:00am to 10:00am Monday through Thursday. Stewardship Corner - God s people are to give freely, generously, regularly, joyfully, and with motivation of love for God and man. By grace, God makes giving possible. This grace of giving is illustrated over and over again in Scripture. Abel gave the best of his herd. King David gave generously to build the temple. The poor widow gave all that she had. Zacchaeus gave away half of his money. Barnabas sold land to support the apostles. Just as God made it possible for these people to excel in the grace of giving, He is calling us to excel in this grace also.

If someone has borrowed them, or knows where they are, please return them as soon as possible. Finance Board will meet on Monday, July 14, at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Council will not have their monthly meeting in July. Lutheran Television for Shut-Ins can be seen each Sunday on cable channel 138 at 11:30am or on Direct TV channel 377 at 10:30am. Italy Trip - There are still 6 seats available on the trip to Italy with Pastor Dave Bueltmann and Dave. 5 LEARN BY HEART THE FAMILY ALTAR The families of St. John are encouraged to learn these words from the Small Catechism by heart this week: The Lord s Prayer The Fourth Petition Give us this day our daily bread. What does this mean? God certainly gives daily bread to everyone without our prayers, even to all evil people, but we pray in this petition that God would lead us to realize this and to receive our daily bread with thanksgiving. What is meant by daily bread? Daily bread includes everything that has to do with the support and needs of the body, such as food, drink, clothing, shoes, house, home, land, animals, money, goods, a devout husband or wife, devout children, devout workers, devout and faithful rulers, good government, good weather, peace, health, self-control, good reputation, good friends, faithful neighbors, and the like. Bible Passage: and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4 Psalm 119:57-64
