2 PARISH MISSION STATEMENT Through our Roman Catholic Faith, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish is committed to welcoming, engaging, and serving a diverse population in the Heights and Hillcrest areas. Established in 2010 through a merger of St. Margaret Mary and St. Gregory the Great Parishes, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish is a vibrant center of Catholic worship, education, Faith formation, service, evangelization, and community life. Through these apostolates, we seek to enable our members to establish and nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ and carry forth His mission in the World. Baptism 1st & 3rd Sundays each month at 1 p.m.; please pre-register Pre-Baptism class for first child ONLY as required by Diocese, offered here the 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October at 1 p.m. in Mary s Room. Pre-registration is required. Marriage Couples should contact a priest 6 to 12 months before their wedding date. Anointing of the Sick Celebrated at Masses annually during October for those able to attend. At home at the request of family at hospital or other medical facility within the jurisdiction of the parish and only in cases of emergency call nearest parish to the location of person to be anointed. Funerals Contact funeral director of choice to meet; ask Director to call the Parish Office to arrange date and time. Call & visit parish office; meet with priest assigned to Mass. for the Homebound Call Parish Office to arrange for to be brought to homebound by Extraordinary Minister. Priests visit on First Friday. Sponsor Requirements Requests for sponsor certificates are directed to a priest. Individuals must be registered and practicing members of this parish; at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. if married, be in a marriage accepted by the Catholic...regarding Religious Education... 3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK... My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Recent days have brought to the surface the horrible events that occurred in Pennsylvania. As the People of God we must continue to pray for those who have been so harmed and also for healing within the Church. Both Pope Francis and Bishop Perez have asked us to pray and do penance in reparation for these sins. The Holy Father suggested mediations on the Stations of the Cross written in 2005 by the then Cardinal Ratzinger. Bishop Perez has asked us to pray before the Blessed Sacrament praying that all survivors of sexual abuse find healing, comfort and strength in God s loving presence as the Church pledges to continue to restore trust through accompaniment, communion, accountability and justice. To that end, may I invite you to a time of prayer here at the parish this Sunday, August 26, beginning at 3 o clock (the Hour of Mercy) in the church. We will make the Way of the Cross, which will be followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction. Please try to attend. October 13, 2018: Bus Trip: Museum of Divine Statues, Lakewood, OH, departing Church parking lot at 11:15 a.m. We will spend approx. an hour at the museum and then we will go to lunch at Sokolowski s. Following lunch, we will spend another hour at the West Side Market. FEES: Bus: $25/rider Admission to the museum: $10/person at the door. Lunch is on your own. There will be a collection of $3/person taken on the bus for the driver. RSVPs are REQUIRED by October 7.
