May they continue to grow in holiness and in their love of Jesus. Congratulations, also, to the boys and girls who entered the Respect Life Essay Contest. The names of the winners can be found on page 6 of today s bulletin. Thank you for your prayers and kind comments following the recent announcement of the merger of Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy and Saint Clare School into Corpus Christi Academy. Please see the insert in today s bulletin called Corpus Christi Chatter for further updates. Also, please continue to keep this intention in your prayer. One question that came up was: Will there still be a Gala? The answer is ABSOLUTLY. We want to celebrate the 90 years of Catholic Education that we have already completed and continue the mission of educating our young people into the future. Your participation helps to make this a reality. And another question: Where are the recycle bins? Sadly, because the cost to repair the parking lot where the bins were located (I am sure you ve noticed the huge ruts) was not offset by the money generated by this recycling project, the Finance Council concluded it would be best to have the bins removed from our property. Thank you for your support of this project and for your understanding of our decision. Please consider taking your paper to the bins at St. Clare s or to Notre Dame College (behind the former Regina High School). May God s blessings be yours this week. Baptisms: First and third Sundays of each month at 1:00 p.m. Pre-registration required. Parents expecting their first child should arrange to attend the required Pre-Baptism class. These are offered at the parish on the 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October at 1:00 p.m. in Mary s Room. Pre-registration is required. Call the Parish Office. Marriages: Engaged couples should make their arrangements with the priest at least 6 to 12 months in advance of their wedding. Funerals: Call the Parish Office to arrange date and time. Holy Communion for the Homebound: Please call the Parish Office whenever a family member is seriously ill or hospitalized. Arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion to the homebound weekly or monthly. These good deeds for God statements are duplicated here as the children wrote them: We are happy to see that more of our parishioners are taking advantage of direct deposit for their offertory giving. They tell us they wish they had arranged for automatic withdrawl years ago as it eliminates that lastminute rush to find the envelope, the checkbook, or the wallet to count out the cash before rushing out for Mass. In our community many organizations, including Womankind, Birthright, and Maggie s Place, have reached out to help pregnant women and their families who arae I emotional, financial and medical need. On Friday, January 22, an evening Mass at 7 o clock at St Gregory the Great Church will be offered, praying for the end to abortion and encouraging us to help both the mother and the child. We hope you will be ableto join us. Pre-Baptism Class If you are expecting your first child, or if you have already welcomed a first child into your family, we invite you to attend our next Diocesan-required Pre-Baptism on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 1 o clock. THE SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ACADEMY NEWS... Throughout our lives, each of us is faced with a series of great opportunities, brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. During those challenging times, let us draw wisdom from these words of Scripture: I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. Titus 3:8 School Merger News: Yes, many of you may know by now that our school, Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy, will merge with St. Clare School in the Fall and become Corpus Christi Academy. The new school will be located at the St. Clare campus in Lyndhurst. Our goal and hope is that our Sacred Heart of Jesus students will join their peers at the new school. There will be an Open House at Corpus Christi Academy, 5659 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst, for current students and their families on Sunday, January 24, from 1-2:30 p.m. I ask you to continue to pray for all of us in this endeavor. We will have our Open House on Sunday, January 31, from 10-11:30 a.m. Immediately following the Open House all families are asked to gather gether at Church and celebrate the Holy Eucharist as a community at the 11:30 Mass.
