Established in 2010 through a merger of St. Margaret Mary and St. Gregory the Great Parishes, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish is a vibrant center of Catholic worship, education, Faith formation, service, evangelization, and community life. Baptisms: First and third Sundays of each month at 1:00 p.m. Preregistration required. Parents must have completed a diocesan-required Pre-Baptism class. Pre-Baptism classes: Classes are offered the 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October at 1:00 p.m. in Mary s Room. Pre-registration is required. Call the Parish Office. Marriages: Engaged couples should make their arrangements with the priest at least 6 to 12 months in advance of their wedding. Funerals: Contact your funeral director of choice and after meeting with them, ask them to call the Parish Office to arrange date and time. Holy Communion for the Homebound: Please call the Parish Office whenever a family member is seriously ill or hospitalized. Arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion to the homebound. Sponsor Requirements: All requests for sponsor certificates must be directed to a priest. Individuals must be registered and practicing members of this parish, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. My Dear Brothers an Sisters in Christ, 20 + C + M + B + 18 As you heard from the talks of our young people after Mass last week, there will be an Open House at our Academy this Sunday from 11 until 2. I hope that you will be able to visit Corpus Christi Academy and see the wonderful things that are happening there. If you have a school aged child, or one who is approaching school age, please come and see! We have an exceptional pre-school as well. As you know, Corpus Christi Academy is a merger of Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy and St. Clare School. Building on the fine traditions of both schools, and working with a group of dedicated parents of both schools, representatives of the finance council of each parish, and the Diocesan Regional Superintendent of Schools, we came together last year. The Diocesan Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Ken Mitskavich, the Academy s Principal, and representatives from each parish s finance council join Father Klasinski and me to form the Academy Board of Trustees. We are committed to offering the very best in Catholic Education for the children from our parishes as well as for the children of our area. Please come and see! May God s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland The Pastor Answers: Q: What is the status of the school building and Parish Family Center (PFC)? A: We have talked to a number of potential lessees or purchasers of the school and PFC, and several are still under consideration. There are pros and cons with each proposal, all of which are being carefully evaluated. Continued use of the PFC for Parish and Corpus Christi Academy athletic and other activities are important considerations. We and the diocesan offices are still working diligently to come to a resolution for the financial well-being of the Parish. Let us pray for Marilyn Kadlec and Pamela O Toole who died and were buried from our parish this past week. Let us ask Almighty God to grant His comfort and peace to their families and friends. 6 Parish Events ~ February, 2018 Wednesday, Februry 14 is the Feast of St. Valentine AND ASH WEDNESDAY (Masses at 6:45 a.m.; 12:10 and 7 p.m.) the beginning of our Lenten journey of repentance. Church Law requires all Catholics over age 18 until the completion of their 59th year to fast from eating between meals on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday only. One main meal and 2 smaller meals are permitted. ALL Catholics 14 years of age and older are required to abstain from eating meat or any meat products on Ash Wednesday and ALL the Fridays of Lent. Although we usually prefer to talk to God using many words, God has much more important things to say to us. So the best kind of prayer is to sit quietly and listen to what God wants us to hear. Fasting: Involves our relationship with ourselves. It requires that we begin by taking an honest look at ourselves in order to discover what blocks us from being free. It is not merely giving up favorite foods and drinks but also in letting go of those things that disturb our inner peace. Let Us Love with the Heart of Christ. Traveling Virgin Statue Our pilgrim Virgin of Fatima statue is available to be loaned out to your family for a day or up to one week. Please call Fr.
