Parents must have completed a diocesan-required Pre-Baptism class. Pre-Baptism classes: offered 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October at 1:00 p.m. in Mary s Room. Preregistration is required. Call the Parish Office. Marriages: Engaged couples should make their arrangements with the priest at least 6 to 12 months in advance of their wedding. Funerals: Contact your funeral director of choice and after meeting with them, ask them to call the Parish Office to arrange date and time. Holy Communion for the Homebound: Please call the Parish Office whenever a family member is seriously ill or hospitalized. Arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion to the homebound weekly or monthly. Sponsor Requirements: All requests for sponsor certificates must be directed to a priest. Individuals must be registered and practicing members of this parish, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. 3 JULY 9, 2017 PAGE 3 From the Pastor s Desk My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day! Let s continue the picnic following our 4p.m. Saturday Mass. Along with our celebration of the Fourth, this week brought the Diaconate Ordination of Abbé Matthew Weaver. He and his classmates were ordained on Wednesday in Florence. Please keep him in your prayers as he prepares for his priesthood ordination next year. Also please keep Joe McCarron in your prayers as he continued in his seminary life. See Joe, there is light at the end of the tunnel! Please save July 23 rd on your calendars. Cardinal Arinze will celebrate a Pontifical Solemn High Mass at 5pm here at the parish. Following the Mass His Eminence will give a talk on the Vatican. If you have any questions that you might like addressed, please submit them to me. I will organize them and give them to the Cardinal. If possible, please bake something for the event. We will be collecting the food on that Sunday. May God s blessings be yours this week. Fr. Ireland The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is also a journey of conversion to God and what He intends for us. RCIA is the process by which persons who were never baptized, were baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized Catholic and never completed the initiation process by receiving the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, become members of the Church. In this sixth month of serving as Apostolic Administrator of Cleveland, I ask you to redouble your prayers that the Lord may give every grace to fulfill this role. Please also remember the intentions of Bishop Richard Lennon in retirement, and of Pope Francis, as we await his appointment of a new bishop for the Diocese of Cleveland. Thomas PLENARY INDULGENCE FOR CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE FATIMA APPARITIONS The Apostolic Penitentiary has granted a plenary indulgence for the centennial anniversary of the Fatima apparitions. The indulgence can be gained by the faithful on the 13th of each month through October, 2017, by visiting an image of Our Lady of Fatima and devotedly participating there in any celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary, praying the Our Father, reciting the Profession of Faith (Creed) and invoking Our Lady of Fatima. Invocation to Our Lady of Fatima can be made with the following prayer: O God, who chose the Mother of Your Son to be our Mother also, grant us that, persevering in penance and prayer for the salvation of the world, we may further more effectively each day the reign of Christ, Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. Nominations for Board of Trustee members, to serve for two years, should be submitted to Father Ireland by July 19. The Board meets annually to administer the $400,000 fund. Endowment Fund Annual meeting to elect Trustees will be held on Monday July 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Gregory the Great meetignng room in the Rectory. Interested Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners are welcome. The City of South Euclid 2017 Summer Band Concerts at Notre Dame College All times are from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. The Cleveland Clinic Concert Band will perform on Sunday August 6 Admission and parking are FREE.
