2 PAGE 2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I pray that you are enjoying this beautiful Easter Season. Please know that you were in my prayers as my fellow pilgrims and I visited the many places in Jerusalem and Galilee that marked significant events in the earthly life of our Blessed Lord. It was most inspiring to read passages from the Sacred Scriptures concerning these events and to be in the actual spot where the events took place. Imagine too the wonder of offering Holy Mass on the Mount of the Beatitudes or where the Lord performed the first miracle at Cana, just to mention two of the sites. Following our visit to the Holy Land we boarded a plane for Rome. There, among other places, we had the opportunity to offer Holy Mass in the catacombs While in the Eternal City we also were able to join other pilgrims from around the world for the Wednesday audience of Pope Francis. It was a beautiful, clear day and the Holy Father s greeting was inspirational. While in Rome, we met up with Abbé Weaver who joined us for the pilgrimage through Rome and Assisi. We later dropped him off in Florence close to where his seminary is located. He is doing very well and assures you all of his prayers as he asks for your continued prayers. Our group also had the opportunity to visit the sites in Florence and Venice. It was a wonderful time of faith. Our prayers do go out to the victims in Boston. Let us pray that those who would choose to cause others harm, be inspired by the Gospel to live a life of peace. Let us, as well, always strive to be, in the spirit of St. Francis, Instruments of that Peace. In your charity, I would ask that you kindly pray for the repose of the soul of my Uncle Willard, who died this past week. He is the eldest brother of my mother. Finally, while sitting at dinner one evening on the pilgrimage, one of my fellow pilgrims asked a question concerning the Roman Canon and mentioned that there are many questions that people have concerning various things. Another pilgrim mentioned that perhaps these could be dealt with in the bulletin. This, being the Year of Faith, seems to be an opportune time; and the bulletin may be a good tool. Let s give it a try. If you have a question that you would like presented, please write it out and send it to my attention at the rectory. The question presented, by the way, dealt with who are the people mentioned in the Canon of the Mass. A response will be found in next week s bulletin. What is the right way to honor the Lord present in the bread and wine? Because God is truly present in the consecrated species of bread and wine, we must preserve the sacred gifts with the greatest reverence. If there are consecrated hosts left over after the celebration of Holy Eucharist, they are kept in sacred vessels in the tabernacle. Since the Most Blessed Sacrament is present in them, the tabernacle is one of the most venerable places in every church. We genuflect before any tabernacle.

This is a beautiful way for families to consecrate their members to Our Blessed Lord and His Immaculate Mother, Mary, seeking their guidance as they learn to Love with the Heart of Christ. Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend the first of our 2013 Festival meetings planned for this Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Mary s Room. We need ALL captains and interested newcomers to come and be prepared to share ideas about how to improve our event. Your generosity will permit us to continue to assist local individuals and families within our parish boundaries who are in need. All performances are at 7 p.m. in our gym and run from Wednesday, April 24, through Sunday, April 28. Tickets are $10. This is our 20 th year of musicals.
