Established in 2010 through a merger of St. Margaret Mary and St. Gregory the Great Parishes, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish is a vibrant center of Catholic worship, education, Faith formation, service, evangelization, and community life. If you are new to our area, or if you have stopped in just to celebrate Mass with us this week, we hope you felt welcomed. Please come back again or better yet stop by the Parish Office and inquire about becoming a member of our parish. One of our priests will be most happy to talk with you. Baptisms: First and third Sundays of each month at 1:00 p.m. Preregistration required. Parents must have completed a diocesan-required Pre-Baptism class. Pre-Baptism classes: Classes are offered the 4th Sunday of January, April, July and October at 1:00 p.m. in Mary s Room. Pre-registration is required. Call the Parish Office. Marriages: Engaged couples should make their arrangements with the priest at least 6 to 12 months in advance of their wedding. Funerals: Contact your funeral director of choice and after meeting with them, ask them to call the Parish Office to arrange date and time. Holy Communion for the Homebound: Please call the Parish Office whenever a family member is seriously ill or hospitalized. Arrangements can be made to bring Holy Communion to the homebound. Sponsor Requirements: All requests for sponsor certificates must be directed to a priest. Individuals must be registered and practicing members of this parish, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. 3 from the Pastor s Desk... My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is with great joy that I announce to you that our newest seminarian from Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish is Dr. Eric Lee. Dr. Lee will be entering the Western Province of the Dominican Order sometime in early August, This is the same Province where my Doctoral Dissertation Director, Bishop Robert Christian, O.P., is from. Dr. Lee has been a very active and generous member of our parish since joining us in He has been a cantor at Mass and participated in the choir. He has been involved in the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Men s Fellowship, directing our blood drives, and coordinating a recent seminar on the Opioid Epidemic. He is an active member of Catholic Young Professionals and Catholic Physicians. Although we will miss him tremendously at the parish, let us keep him in our prayers as he follows God s call to the Religious Life. God bless you. Next Sunday will be the First Solemn High Mass of Canon Matthew Weaver at 5 p.m. I would like to invite you to put on your Sunday Best and make this a real event in the life of your family. So often in our busy schedules we do our best to catch Mass when we can. Next week, I invite you to make this Mass THE EVENT of the day. Following this beautiful Mass with musicians from several choirs, Canon Weaver will give his first priestly blessings. Following that we will have a reception on the south lawn of the rectory for everyone who attended the Mass. Here there will be an opportunity to visit with Canon Weaver over a light meal and refreshments and to enjoy a surprise grand finale. So many wonderful things happening at our parish! These collections happen only 4 times a year, on average, so please consider this very worthy cause and be as generous as you are able. Please consider joining the members of the Marian Movement each Thursday evening at 7 o clock when they gather in the Chapel to pray for vocations to the priesthood and for those men who are already ordained. No reservation ~ no fees ~ no requirements for membership, just a genuine desire to spend time in prayer for those who have dedicated their lives to serve God in His holy Church.
