3 IN OUR PARISH WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS St. Jane de Chantal Parish welcomes those who have recently registered in our parish: Meredith Jaggers John, Elizabeth, & Cecilia Stauffer If you attend Mass at St. Jane Frances de Chantal regularly, we encourage you to register as a member. Please complete a registration form and drop it in the collection basket the next time you attend Mass. PIZZA & DONUT SOCIALS All parishioners are invited to share pizza and drinks in Caulfield Hall after the 5:00 pm Mass this Saturday, December 20, and coffee, donuts, and friendship after the 8:00 am, 10:00 am, and 12 noon Masses this Sunday, December 21. The featured organizations this month are Social Concerns and our parish St. Martin s Cloak. The committees involved in our community are the Bereavement Committee, Bethesda Cares, Ladies Of Charity, Meals On Wheels, Parish Environmental Committee, Pro-Life Group, Shepherd's Table, So Others Might Eat (SOME). The Youth Group will be taking donations at the coffee to benefit a local charity. VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS At the Coffee and Donuts Social after the 10:00 am Mass this Sunday, December 21, we will have a visit from St. Nicholas, the one who is the model for our Santa Claus. The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas. He was raised to be a devout Christian by his parents who died when he was young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need and his love for children. To read more on St. Nicholas, visit OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN ON CHRISTMAS EVE Children are invited to participate at the 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm Christmas Eve Masses. At the 4:00 pm Mass, the children will be part of the homily. At the 6:30 pm Mass children are invited to join in acting out the Christmas story. We will need many shepherds and angels, as well as animals, and Mary and Joseph. Practice for both Masses will be held on Thursday, December 23, at 4:15 pm in the church. REMEMBER IN PRAYER... those who are sick, and all those in our nursing homes and hospitals, especially Fr. Stanislaw Podlewski, Colette McNickle, Alyssa Malcomson, Greg Kramlich, Marisa Spadaro, Mary Jane Kelly, Betty Hannan, Pat Flaherty, Maureen Stradley, Joseph Dzialo, and Michael Gretschel. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY All high schools students: come join us for a time of Christmas cheer this Sunday, December 21 from 6:15 7:30 pm at the Seton Center. We will share the meaning of Christmas and decorate cookies. Bring a dozen undecorated sugar cookies; we will provide the frosting and sprinkles! IN OUR LITURGY & MUSIC MINISTRIES CHURCH CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS Volunteers are needed to help decorate the church for Christmas on Monday, December 22 from 7:00-9:00 pm. HELP WITH THE HYMNALS On Saturday, January 10, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, we will make the transition from our current Ritual Song hymnal to our beautiful new Worship hymnals. Your help is needed! We need volunteers to help with removing the old hymnals from the pews and placing them in Caulfield Hall, unpacking the new hymnals from the boxes, placing the donor bookplate labels inside the new hymnals, and placing them in the pews. IN OUR YOUNG ADULT FELLOWSHIP This new parish group is for single Catholics, ages 22-35, who meet monthly for spiritual and social events.
