For more information, call Lisa Tennant at PRO-LIFE MEETING Our Pro-Life Committee invites all parishioners to attend a pro-life meeting this Tuesday, May 1, at 7:00 pm in Caulfield Hall. The meeting will include a discussion of strategies to end abortion, specifically, how we can continue to strengthen our efforts to protest and end lateterm abortions at the Wildwood Medical Center. YOUNG ADULT FELLOWSHIP The Young Adult Fellowship is for 20- and 30-somethings, single or married, who would like to get more involved in our parish community. Want to get more out of your Sunday Mass-going experience? Come join us for a "teaching Mass" on Wednesday, May 9, at 7:00 pm in the lower room of the Seton Center. As he says Mass, Fr. Keith Burney will open up for us the deeper significance behind what's happening at each moment of the celebration, so we can better appreciate the beauty and meaning of the Eucharistic liturgy. MOTHERS DAY CORSAGES The Pro-Life Committee will have carnations, corsages, and bouquets available for purchase in the gathering space of church at all Masses on the weekend of Mothers Day (May 13). The Open is one of the largest annual fundraisers and oldest traditions at DeChantal, and the money raised provides the primary financial support for our CYO sports activities, facilities, and equipment. Funds are generated through player fees, donations, and sponsorships. Whether as an individual, family, group of families, or even as a business, sponsorship is a wonderful way to express support for all the benefits CYO provides to our community. And if you are able to play, your registration fee includes driving range, greens fees, lunch, beverages, dinner, and a guaranteed great time! SACRED MUSIC IN A SACRED PLACE Our next parish musical event takes place on Sunday, May 26 at 3:00 pm, and will feature Joy-Leilani Garbutt, organist, and Rebecca Kellerman, soprano, in a program of music for voice and organ by French female composers. Free admission, no tickets required. Please bring your friends! CORPUS CHRISTI EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION The Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly referred to as Corpus Christi, on the weekend of June 3. Our parish typically incorporates a Eucharistic procession on this Holy Day following the 10:00 am Sunday Mass. We are in need of four adults/teenagers (male or female) to carry the canopy banisters over the Blessed Sacrament while in procession. REMEMBER IN PRAYER... those who are sick, and all those in our nursing homes and hospitals, especially Pat Krisko.... those who have died, especially Patricia Smith. PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS The Pastoral Council advises and assists the pastor in achieving the goals of the parish. This includes: developing and recommending parish policies; striving to represent the needs and views of parishioners as a whole; coordinating activities among the parish organizations; and, performing other tasks to promote the mission and overall good of the parish. The Pastoral Council does not implement programs which are the responsibility of the parish staff or parish organizations, but instead addresses issues that fall outside their purview. Some current matters in which the Pastoral Council is involved include: assisting in social justice initiatives; enhancing the communication of parish activities and needs through a variety of outlets; planning for upcoming parish celebrations; and, developing our evangelization programs. The Pastoral Council consists of 15 members, five of whom are elected each year for three-year terms. It also includes the School Principal, the Director of Faith Formation, and the heads or representatives of the Sodality, Finance Council, Home and School Association, School Board, and CYO. Elections will be held early May to select five council members for a term running from May 2018 until May If you are 18 years of age or older and interested in serving the parish as a member of the council, or if you wish to nominate a fellow parishioner who meets these criteria, please complete the nomination form below and return it to the parish office by 5:00 pm Friday, May 4. 4 APRIL 29, 2018 IN OUR FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS Visit the Faith Formation page at for information on the various programs, registration forms and calendars. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY: ALOHA SMASH All eighth Graders and all high school students are invited to Aloha SMASH on Sunday, May 6. We will be saying hello to the incoming freshmen and goodbye to the seniors. Join us at the Seton Center for dinner at 6:00 pm, with games and activities to follow until 8:00 pm FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION Registration for next year s Faith Formation year will begin on May 1. We have classes for Pre-K3/4 through eighth grade, as well as High School Teen Ministry. Pre-K3/4 and Kindergarten meet on Sundays during the 10:00 am Mass. Grades 1 8 meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 7:15 pm. Classes for first Communion and confirmation are also being formed. A child is not automatically enrolled in the sacraments of first Communion and confirmation. If you would like to enroll your child in the sacraments or would like more information, contact Sally Daniel at sally.daniel@stjanedechantal.org or Register your child at HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY REGISTRATION High School Teen Ministry is a great way for our teens to stay in contact with friends they have made while at St. Jane s School or CCD, as well as to stay connected to the parish. High School Youth Ministry is not CCD for high schools students. While there are times we focus on a particular topic of faith and life, everything we do is to help the students grow in their faith and live it out, through things like social activities, service opportunities, parish involvement, and retreats. High School Teen Ministry meets about three times a month, mostly on Sundays from 6:00 8:00 pm, with an occasional outing outside of that time. There is a teen leadership team who assists with the youth ministry. Register at after May 1. CCD TEACHERS, CO-TEACHERS, & ADULT LEADERS CCD teachers, co-teachers and High School Teen Ministry FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER adult leaders are needed for next year. These are vital ministries in the parish so that our young people can learn and grow in their faith. You do not need to have teaching experience to teach the faith, only a love of the faith and a love of being with children. Training and help will be given with materials to use, in-service, as well as a guidebook on planning lessons. The Virtus child protection background check, which can be completed in the summer, must be completed before volunteering can begin. ENROLLMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR Kindergarten and Pre-K enrollment are underway for the school year. School tours are available upon request. STEWARDSHIP In today s Gospel, Jesus says that God is glorified when a disciple, grafted in Christ, produces abundantly and bears much fruit. The disciple must then be a good steward of that abundance. POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, May 5/6, will benefit the Monsignor Christopher Fund, which provides need-based scholarships to our parish school.
