WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS St. Jane de Chantal Parish welcomes those who have recently registered in our parish. If you attend Mass at St. Jane Frances de Chantal regularly, we encourage you to register as a member. Please complete a registration form and drop it in the collection basket when you attend Mass. NEW NO PARKING ZONE AT ST. JANE The Safety Committee of the Pastoral Council has designated a no-parking zone along the curb in front of the old entrance to church (the circle). This is to allow emergency access to the old entrance of the church, and to the area between the church and school. MOTHERS DAY CORSAGES The Pro-Life Committee will have carnations, corsages, and bouquets available for purchase in the gathering space of church at all Masses this weekend May 12/13. Proceeds will benefit Right to Life of Montgomery County. ROSARIES FOR THE UNBORN All are invited to pray the rosary for the unborn during the month of May. Even if you did not make a pledge during the sign-up period, you can still participate. GOLF! GOLF! GOLF! The DeChantal Open golf outing will be held Friday, May 18 at Falls Road Golf Course 12:30 pm start. The money raised provides the primary financial support for our CYO sports activities, facilities, and equipment. A sponsorship is a wonderful way to express support. And if you are able to play, your registration fee includes driving range, greens fees, lunch, beverages, dinner, and a guaranteed great time! Additional information and player/sponsor registration can be found at HOLY HOUR FOR VOCATIONS Join us in prayer for the intentions of the men being ordained and an increase in vocations to the priesthood. Join your fellow parishioners in prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament, Friday, June 1, 8:30 10:45 am. Pray for the generous response to a call from God to a vocation to the priesthood and the consecrated life. CORPUS CHRISTI EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION The Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly referred to as Corpus Christi, on the weekend of June 3. Our parish typically incorporates a Eucharistic procession on this Holy Day following the 10:00 am Sunday Mass. We are in need of four adults/teenagers (male or female) to carry the canopy banisters over the Blessed Sacrament while in procession. A very brief rehearsal will take place on Saturday morning, June 2. For more information or to volunteer, russellweismann@stjanedechantal.org. IN OUR FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS Visit the Faith Formation page at for information on the various programs, registration forms and calendars FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION Registration for next year s Faith Formation year is under way. We have classes for Pre-K3/4 through eighth grade, as well as High School Teen Ministry. Pre-K3/4 and Kindergarten meet on Sundays during the 10:00 am Mass. Grades 1 8 meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 7:15 pm. Classes for first Communion and confirmation are also being formed. A child is not automatically enrolled in the sacraments of first Communion and confirmation. If you would like to enroll your child in the sacraments or would like more information, contact Sally Daniel at SUMMER BIBLE CAMP June :00 am 12:15 pm for children completing grades K-3 We will discover five water-based Bible stories from Moses on the Nile to Jesus being baptized to God saving Paul from a shipwreck at sea. Each day will include a Bible story, crafts, games, music, and snack. Volunteers are needed to help! $65 per child. Register at Registration closed June 1. 4 MAY 13, 2018 or Register your child at HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY REGISTRATION High School Teen Ministry is a great way for our teens to stay in contact with friends they have made while at St. Jane s School or CCD, as well as to stay connected to the parish. High School Youth Ministry is not CCD for high schools students. While there are times we focus on a particular topic of faith and life, everything we do is to help the students grow in their faith and live it out, through things like social activities, service opportunities, parish involvement, and retreats. High School Teen Ministry meets about three times a month, mostly on Sundays from 6:00 8:00 pm, with an occasional outing outside of that time. There is a teen leadership team who assists with the youth ministry. Register at CCD TEACHERS, CO-TEACHERS, & ADULT LEADERS CCD teachers, co-teachers and High School Teen Ministry adult leaders are needed for next year. These are vital ministries in the parish so that our young people can learn and grow in their faith. You do not need to have teaching experience to teach the faith, only a love of the faith and a love of being with children. Training and help will be given with materials to use, in-service, as well as a guidebook on planning lessons. The Virtus child protection background check, which can be completed in the summer, must be completed before volunteering can begin. ENROLLMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR Kindergarten and Pre-K enrollment are underway for the school year. School tours are available upon request. Taking a school tour is the best way to see classrooms, meet teachers, and learn about our curriculum. Contact the school office at for details and to reserve a spot on a tour. BOOST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The State of Maryland BOOST Scholarship Program, which assists families with Catholic school tuition, is funded for a third year, at an increased level of $7.6 million for the upcoming school year. There will be hundreds of new scholarships awarded. If you or someone you know is looking to enroll their public school student in a Catholic school, it is important to note that every student who sought transfer from a public school last year was offered a scholarship. Applications for the school year are now open. Awards are granted based on household income, with the lowest income served first. FIAT CAMP FOR YOUNG WOMEN At Fiat Camp (fiat is Latin for Let it be done ), young women, who are rising 9th-12th graders, will be challenged to embrace the unique gifts given to them and to discover the dignity of their vocation as a woman. The camp will be held July at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD, and will include prayer, talks, discussions with religious sisters, games, and sports. Fee is $150 (sibling discounts and scholarships available). Details and registration at Co-sponsored by the Archdioceses of Washington and Baltimore. STEWARDSHIP Jesus ascended into heaven, blessing His disciples and promising that they would soon receive the power of the Holy Spirit. We who have received that promised gift of the Spirit are now empowered to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth to use our time and talents to spread the good news of salvation. This collection provides funding for Catholic Relief Services, the USCCB Offices of International Justice and Peace, Migration and Refugee Services, and Pastoral Care for Migrants and Refugees, relief work of the Holy Father, and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, May 19/20, will benefit Bethesda Cares, which helps place people living unsheltered into permanent, supportive housing; eases life for those sleeping on the street; and keeps low-income tenants from eviction. Bethesda Cares also provides a meal program, clothing closet, prescription assistance, and psychiatric services.
