CUB SCOUTS POPCORN SALES The Cub Scouts of Pack 461, chartered by St. Jane de Chantal Parish, will be selling popcorn after all Masses next weekend, September 17/18. MEN S FIRST SATURDAY FELLOWSHIP St. Jane de Chantal men s ministry is open to parish men of all ages, and will focus on fellowship, prayer, and team building. They will meet the first Saturday of each month for light breakfast and fellowship at 6:30 am in Caulfield Hall, followed by lecture and group discussion 7:00-. For more information, contact Tim Gleeson at TV MONITOR IN CHILDREN S QUIET ROOM Over the summer, a new feature was added to our church. For the benefit of our parents and guests with young children, a television monitor has been installed in the Children's Quiet Room located in the Narthex. In addition, a video camera, focused on the alter, will allow those TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME occupying this area a way to fully participate in the Mass without obstruction. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS We are in need of additional Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, especially at the Sunday 12 noon Mass. TEACHERS NEEDED IN CCD PRE-K Teachers are needed in our Pre-K 3 and 4 year old You are invited to share your TIME TALENT TREASURE Saturday & Sunday, September 24 & 25 after all Masses, in Caulfield Hall The fair offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the many ways you can share your time and talent through participation in the many ministries of our parish: Worship and Spiritual Growth, Education, Faith Formation and Evangelization, Family and Vocation, Parish Life, Social Concerns, and Youth. There will also be information available about ways to share your treasure through several giving opportunities. Pizza will be offered during the Fair on Saturday, and coffee and donuts will be offered after the Masses on Sunday morning.

The opening session will take place Tuesday, September 13. Classes meet Tuesdays, 4:30-5:45 pm for grades K-5; Tuesdays, 7:00-8:15 pm for grades 6-8; and Sundays during the 10:00 am Mass for pre-k ages 3 and 4 (FOOT). SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION REGISTRATION First Communion and confirmation classes are forming. If you have a child who is in a private Catholic school and will be receiving a sacrament, contact the Seton Center at sally.daniel@stjanedechantal.org or to register your child. There is a separate process for registering a child for sacramental preparation. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY All high school students are invited to the first SMASH (Sunday Mass and Social Hour) on Sunday, September 11. Attend the Mass, then come to the Seton Center from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for a BBQ, to play some games, and to get to know one another and learn more about the upcoming events for high school youth ministry. All high school students no matter where you go to school are welcome to attend. RCIA OPEN HOUSE & INFORMATION SESSION RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a program designed for adults interested in becoming Catholic or completing their sacraments. You are cordially invited to an open house and information session on Wednesday, September 14, at 7:00 pm at the Seton Center. You will learn more about the program and also have an opportunity to meet St. Jane's RCIA team, RCIA alumni, and other people who are considering RCIA or have already signed up. There is no cost or obligation. If you decide to participate in this year's program, RCIA will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at the Seton Center, starting September 28 and continuing through the Easter season next Spring. ADULT ED: HISTORY AND THE CHURCH The ongoing History and the Church series returns this Fall on Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00 pm, beginning September 27 at the Seton Center. This year's material, "Religions of the Axial Age," focuses on the pivotal pre-christian period between 800 to 200 BC. Learn about contextual factors that influenced development of world religions, including our Catholic faith. There will be twelve discussion-group sessions and some supplementary reading assignments. MASS OF THANKSGIVING FOR ST. TERESA OF KOLKATA Blessed Mother Teresa of Kolkata was canonized at the Vatican on September 4. The canonization was held during a Sunday Mass celebrated as part of the Jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy. A Mass of Thanksgiving for the Canonization of Saint Teresa of Kolkata will be celebrated at the Basilica of the National Shrine (400 Michigan Ave., N.E.) this Sunday, September 11, at 12:00 noon. All are invited to join the Missionaries of Charity in commemorating St. Teresa s canonization. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SHEPHERD S TABLE Shepherd s Table in downtown Silver Spring is currently TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME seeking volunteers to help expand its meals program for the homeless and others in need. Volunteers are needed to serve any of the meals, and clean up the dining room after the meal. The time commitment would be about one and a half hours once a month. Training will be provided. Tentatively a parish team of a minimum of several people would assist at evening meals. If you would like to volunteer, contact Joseph Gallelli ( ) of St. Martin s Cloak, which is organizing a parish team. Shepherd s Table plans to begin the extended meals service in December when it moves to a new larger facility next to the county fire station at 8110 Georgia Ave. More exchanges with Saint Martin s Cloak members about this initiative will be possible at the Time and Talent Fair on September 24/25. POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, September 17/18, will benefit So Others Might Eat (SOME). SOME provides daily meals and other immediate needs for the homeless and those who are extremely poor.
