2 NOVEMBER 1, 2015 MUSIC & LITURGY NOTES Five Reasons to join Music Ministry: 1. Community: Being a member of a choir is a great way to meet people in the parish. 2. Learn Music: One of the biggest misunderstandings about choirs is that you have to be able to read music to join this is a false statement. As long as you enjoy singing, you can join! Wrong notes are not mistakes they are progress. 3. Routine: A weekly music ministry rehearsal or Mass offers a routine in life to help you manage your time. 4. Music Therapy: This is free in the church! Hospitals charge an arm and a leg for it. 5. Fun: Making music together is hard work, but during the process, members laugh and enjoy their time together. Bullying does not just happen in hallways or the school yard anymore. With so many teens using the internet to instant message friends, create blogs, set up profiles on social networking sites, share photos, and text message on their cell phones, harassment has taken on a new form cyber bullying. The flier on cyber bullying is to help you understand what cyber bullying is, how it is conducted, and what to do if you suspect your child is being bullied online. For a copy of the flier and to learn more about the archdiocese s commitment to protecting children, visit and click on Child Protection. STEWARDSHIP Today s psalm makes clear that we and everything we think we own actually belong to God instead: The Lord s are the earth and its fullness, the world and those who dwell in it. We are stewards, not owners, of our lives and all we possess! POPE FRANCIS As Christians, we are deeply convinced that the ultimate goal, the most worthy of the person and the human community, is the abolition of war. [...] Therefore, we must always strive to build bridges that bring us together, and not walls that keep us apart; we always have to help search for an opening to m e d i a t i o n a n d reconciliation; we must never give in to the temptation of considering the other only as an enemy to be destroyed, but rather as a person, endowed with inherent dignity, created by God in His image. [...] Even in the midst of the lacerations of war we must never get tired of remembering that each person is extraordinarily sacred.
