LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR The Little Sisters of the Poor are visiting our parish this weekend, October 22/23 to request our assistance with their mission in caring for the elderly poor. QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE SICK AND DYING How do we approach the caring and comforting of the sick and dying at the end of their lives? John McKay, Catholic Chaplain at Suburban Hospital. HSA CHRISTMAS BAZAAR THRIFT SHOP DONATIONS Have you been waiting for a good reason to de-clutter the basement? You are in luck! The St. Jane de Chantal Home and School Association is now collecting items for the Thrift Shop at their 11th annual Christmas Bazaar. Please consider donating your gently used items. HSA CHRISTMAS BAZAAR St. Jane de Chantal Home and School Association will hold its 11th annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 12, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in Christopher Hall. For more information, visit USED CLOTHING DROP-OFF SHED St. Jane de Chantal Parish contracts with a vendor to provide a used clothing drop-off shed. Items accepted: all clothing, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes, and stuffed toys. Help keep your donation clean and dry by placing items in plastic bags. Items not accepted: rags, fabric scraps, toys, and household goods; understand that these items are expensive to dispose of. The accepted items will not be cut up or shredded, and will benefit people in the U.S. and in third-world countries. After each pick-up, our parish receives a stipend; since January 2016, a total of $1, has been distributed between the Msgr. Christopher Scholarship Fund, St. Martin s Cloak, the School Endowment Fund, and the Pastor s Projects Fund. 4 OCTOBER 23, 2016 YOUTH MINISTRY: BUTLER S ORCHARD All high school teens are invited to join in on a hay ride and bonfire at Butler s Orchard, on Saturday, November 5. Meet at St. Jane at 5:15 pm and return between 9:30-10:00 pm. Available space for 30 people, including chaperones. Cost is $15.00 per person. Have I been given the gifts of time or money or abilities to be the means by which God answers their need? POOR BOX The Poor Box next weekend, October 29/30, will benefit St. Martin s Cloak. In the spirit of St. Martin, who tore his military cloak in half to share with a beggar, St. Martin s Cloak provides financial and other assistance to those in need, particularly those in our parish. Financial assistance is completely confidential. Long term problems are referred to community resources.
