2 From the Senior Minister I know that my first article of 2017 should be all about looking into the year ahead, and New Year resolutions, and all that kind of stuff. But I wanted to pause for a moment and say THANK YOU for Especially the last quarter. Every year we realize the same thing: from Halloween to New Years is always a blur. The Holidays go so quickly, and for most of us, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle (I know, it sounds so cliché, but it s the truth). But when I look back at the last three months, CCCC has blessed me and my family in such great ways. In October you honored me with a surprise 25 year anniversary party. November was pastor appreciation month. And in December, so many of you remembered us in the tradition of gift giving. Your cards, gifts, and Christmas bonus from the church family always mean so much to me, and especially this year. Thank YOU to all who showered us with blessings. The Gonzalez family ended 2016 with a week of vacation after Christmas, and now that we are back in town, our batteries are recharged, and we look forward to starting 2017 with renewed enthusiasm. I hope that our entire CCCC church family is right along with me chomping at the bit to get some things started in this new year. Now, more than ever, we should be more than eager to carry out the Great Commission. Jesus told His disciples, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. This is, and should be, at the very root of everything we do as a church. When we forget that it is OUR responsibility as believers to share the message of love and salvation, not only to the world around us, but also to the corners of the world, we drop the ball with what Christ has expected us to do. God s word makes it clear that His return will only happen after the whole world has heard the truth of His Son Jesus. That is why He has called us, YOU and ME, the CHURCH, to carry out this task: Go into all the world and teach about Jesus. This isn t a suggestion it is a COMMISSION. It is what we are SUPPOSED to do. So don t be surprised if 2017 isn t a year that we hear this message over and over is going to be another GREAT year! We will have plenty of opportunities for outreach, and the next two months, February and March, we will move through our Faith Promise season and lay out our emphasis on local and world-wide missions. But both ends of this spectrum require us to start with a passion for the LOST a passion to share the love of Christ with them, so that they too can share in the rewards of Heaven. But even more than a passion for the lost, we must embrace a passion to SERVE Christ through taking seriously and obeying the Great Commission: GO. See you Sunday, Allen G. 3 Communication From the Leadership All Is Well A few months back, my wife decided it was finally time to embrace the technology of a smart phone. She was not happy about this transition (she loved her flip phone). However, she wanted to take photos and videos of our soon to be Grandson and the flip phone just was not going to cut it. In our haste, we try to complicate everything; however, Jesus reminds us that he is the only one who has truly conquered everything. In John 16:33 Jesus speaking; I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. He is letting us know it is ok not to have it all together. The holiday rush and business is behind us. Maybe the tree is still up, so what? Is that truly the most important thing? Not really. We sometimes find ourselves too busy. Can we slow down and find a little more A little more time with our spouse A little more time with family A little more time at the beach What is it you need to find a little more for this year? In his song All Is Well, Robin Mark reminds us; All is well, with my soul, He is God, in control. I know not all His plans, but I know I m in his hands. Just think about that, I mean really dwell on that. Jesus who has overcome the world, wants us just to let go and remember He is in control of everything. He is not saying hey I got a few things covered He is saying I got you, no matter what. Jesus is there, good times and bad times. As we enter into 2017, let us not forget to stop and make time for one another. More importantly, let us make a little more time for God. Hebrews 10:23-25 reminds us; Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 4 Ministry EVENTS Our Children s Ministry would like to have better equipment for the playground. If you are interested in helping with the purchase of playground equipment or you are handy and could build one of the needed items please call the office (850) What a great Birthday for Jesus! Thank you all for your generosity! You donated so many blankets coats, hats, and socks for the homeless. Juanita & Randy Tatum delivered the items and the recipients were so thankful and appreciative of your efforts. Also a big thank you to those who purchased items for the church, those gifts will be a big blessing to the church this year.
