2 The Fourth Sunday of Advent Saturday and Sunday December 29-30, December 29-30, 2018 Dear Friends: This weekend we celebrate the gift of family, beginning with the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, to our own families. It is my earnest prayer for you that together we can celebrate the grace of family, whatever form or shape that family takes. As Deacon James and I have often suggested in our homilies from time to time, we are all broken in some way. There is, however, grace and blessing to be found in the brokenness. As Saint Paul reminds us of the Lord s words to him,...my grace is enough for you, for power is made perfect in weakness, (2 Cor. 12:9) so too are we reminded that, in the struggles that are a part of family life, we can meet the grace of the Lord s presence in a new way. I hope and pray for God s protection over all of you and for healing in those homes and families where healing is needed. Thank you for being such a good faith family to me and to one another! 3 Celebrate the Sacrament of your Marriage at the 2019 St. Jude World Marriage Day St. Jude parish will honor couples celebrating 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 or more than 60 years of marriage, at the 4:00 p.m. mass on Saturday, January 19, You are invited to participate if you are celebrating one of these special anniversaries ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR OF Please contact Pat Blanchard at (225) to register to be a part of this special celebration. Registration deadline is January 11th. Prepare to feel special: All honored couples will receive a corsage and boutonnière, process in with the priest to reserved seating for the mass, receive a special marriage certificate of participation and a keepsake program. There will be a renewal of vows during mass and a reception in the parish hall for you and your guest immediately following the mass. This event is hosted by members of the St. Jude Marriage Encounter Ministry and St. Jude Church. All couples should bring a wedding photo for the display table at the reception Couples are invited to have their family member take their picture during the reception for a comparison to their original photograph and to capture the memory of the day. Women s Morning of Reflection The Catholic Daughter s of St. Jude invite all women to join them for a woman s morning of reflection to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the St. Jude parish hall. Fr. Ryan Hallford, St. Jude Associate Pastor, will be our spiritual facilitator and lead us on a journey of Nourished & Cherished Eph. 5:29 Recognizing Your Dignity in a Culture of Compassion Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Reflection will be 9:00-12:00 There is no fee for attending. 4 VBS: Our annual Vacation Bible School is fast approaching and we need volunteers like you to help make it happen! VBS will be June 10 th - 14 th, 2019 this year. We are currently looking for a VBS Chair, a Decorations Chair and volunteers to help throughout the week. If you are interested, please michaelynm@stjudecatholic.org to sign up to volunteer! Please consider giving of your time to help us make this amazing ministry a reality for our children to encounter the Lord this summer! St. Jude After-School Extension Program is looking for dedicated, reliable and passionate after-school care workers. You must be at least a high school junior or older. In this position you will assume responsibility of supervising children and assisting with homework. If you qualify and are interested, please call St. Jude School at for more details. Make your plans now to attend. The Men s Club is NOT a dad s club or a select group of friends, but rather embraces diversity and encourages men of all ages to participate. We focus on Christian fellowship and social fun while providing assistance to the church parish and school as needed.
