2 Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time STA Kids Faith Formation Begins Next Week Summer has come and gone so quickly, and our public schools have already begun. Keeping in line with our public school system, this weekend we offer our annual Pancake Breakfast at which you are invited to register your children and teens for faith formation, including preparation for the sacraments. Our sessions for grades Pre-K to 5th Grades begin on August 26. We hope to see everyone at these events. We all want the very best education for our children and go out of our way to make sure they have great learning experiences to prepare them for their future. While it is important that they learn reading, writing, and math, it is also important that they learn about their faith. Faith formation for our young people is more than just preparing them to receive the sacraments. It is a foundation for the way they will live their lives. Parents are the primary catechists in their lives, but we are here to help enhance what is done with them at home. And while they are learning and growing in their faith, we ll help parents grow in their faith as well. Here s what to look forward to in the coming year: 1. Our first sessions are on August 26 beginning with a family gathering and break-out sessions into individual classes while parents meet with me. 2. As our kids are formed in their faith, it is important for our parents to think about their own faith formation. Sessions for parents during our Sunday sessions will be offered on a regular basis beginning with our session on September We are offering additional family gatherings on Monday and Thursday nights (choose which night works best for your family) from 6 until 7:15 four times throughout the year. These will help both children and adults to grow in faith as a family and prepare for special seasons and events. Some of these evenings will include special presenters. All of these sessions will include a simple dinner. As always, we need catechists and aides in our classes to make all of this happen. Please prayerfully consider whether or not you are being called to help with our children s faith formation. We also need catechists willing to take our children out for Children s Liturgy of the Word during our Masses. If you are interested in either of these possibilities, please see me (Susan) after Mass for details or contact me at suolsen@dsj.org. Wishing all of us a fabulous year of growing in our faith and our relationship with our good and loving God. God s peace and blessings to all! The damage, the responsibility of the parish, must be repaired before the start of school this year. Fr. Stasys has signed a contract estimated at $75,000 to do the repair work. During inspection and repair, we may discover additional work needs to be done, and the price may go higher still. This is an example of the types of unexpected expenses the parish is sometimes faced with. Thank you for your continued generosity in our Sunday collections. The money is put to good use. STA Employment Need: Part-Time Bookkeeper Provide accurate financial information to management and other stakeholders in addition to planning, forecasting and analyzing reports and information impacting parish operations. Please contact the pastor at emikalonis@dsj.org for more information and/or an application.
