You may place these in the Offering plate. Sunday School Teachers are Needed! Starting in Fall 2015, we are expanding our Sunday School program by creating a Sunday School class for each grade level! This change will create smaller class sizes with more opportunities for learning, mentoring, creativity, and growth. This exciting expansion will require an increased number of Sunday School Teachers. If you are currently teaching, or if you ve considered it in the past, now is the time to jump in and get involved! Sunday School teachers are also needed for our Summer months. If you would like to teach 1-3 Sundays during the summer (June 21 September 6), please sign up via or on the sign up sheets located at Fireside Coffee Hour. If you would like to learn more about our Sunday School program and the role of a Sunday School Teacher, please Megan Jones or call to arrange a time to chat.

7 TODAY LOOKING AHEAD Join us for Coffee Hour in the Fireside Room following worship. Summer Small Groups sign-ups go through the end of the month. Fellowship, service, mutual interest, study, and other opportunities for June-August are available. Pick up a Small Group pamphlet in the Fireside Hallway or online at Youth Camping Trip at Cape Disappointment May 29 & 30 Youth planning to attend the camping trip should meet at the church on Friday at 5:30 PM. Over the weekend, we ll explore the beaches, hike along the trails, visit the nearby lighthouse, and revisit history at the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. Students 7th 12th grade are invited to attend. A $20 donation is encouraged to cover the cost of one yurt, one tent site, and food. Please RSVP with Megan by Wednesday, May 27. or call for additional information. Reconciling Forum: Sunday, May 31 after worship in the Fireside Room Rev. Jeremy Smith will lead us through How Did We Get Here? A Brief History of the LGBT Debate in the United Methodist Church. This is an effort to prepare us for General Conference in May Enjoy a delicious lunch and learn about the continuing story of our church s struggle to grow into a more inclusive, fair and just community. Will we be prepared to help write the next chapter as it takes shape at the gathering of United Methodists from all over the world at the General Conference right here in Portland next year? Special Opportunity to Attend the Oregon Children s Theater Sunday, May 31 at 2:00 PM FUMC families are invited to attend, at no charge, Portland s very own tale of Ramona Quimby, taking place at the Newmark Theatre (1111 SW Broadway). We will have a light lunch at the church immediately following Sunday Worship in Room 134, then head down to the theater for a private tour and the show. This show is recommended for children six and older. Space is limited. Please RSVP by Monday, May 25. A 9 am worship service will start on June 7th in the Chapel GOOD NEWS! An anonymous donor has stepped forward and issued a Challenge Grant to help us pay for the Sanctuary Renovation project. They will match our gifts up to $100,000! ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES Christianity in a Changing World is discussing The Meaning of Human Existence. The famous biologist E.O. Wilson will guide the conversation as we question meaning and the morality of our times. 9:00 AM, Room 202 The Gathering is a community of parents of school-age children. Rev.
