Supper is served in Collins Hall from 5:30 to 6:30 PM each Wednesday, through March 28. From 6:30 to 7:15 PM we gather in the Fireside Room and travel the path of Spiritual Practices. These short lessons are geared for all ages: Contemplative Path: Meditation March 21 Praise Path: Spirit Singing March 28 MEDITATION The Rev. Dr. Robert Flaherty, pastor of the Newberg United Methodist Church will lead us in an exploration of meditation as a tool for Christian spiritual growth. Meditation involves the emptying our minds from all distractions and the focusing of our minds in the present moment. Dr. Flaherty will help newcomers to meditation and old hands alike find new energy in this spiritual practice

12 PATHWAYS TO ECONOMIC JUSTICE FORUM NEXT SUNDAY On Sunday, March 25, 2012 at noon in the Fireside Room there will be a forum on Pathways to Economic Justice. Liam Doherty-Nicholson works in Occupy Outreach and Education and Sam Smith, who founded Occupy Tomorrow, will represent the Occupy Movement. Paul Schroeder, from the Orthodox tradition and the homeless and poor in Portland, will bring a theological perspective to the issue. A light lunch and child care will be provided. 13 Noted In Brief LEARN MORE AT FIRST CHURCH ORIENTATION Join us for a First Church Orientation today at noon in Room 202. We begin with a simple meal at noon which is followed by an orientation and tour of the facility. THE RUTH CIRCLE The Ruth Circle will meet Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at noon in Room 202. Members will be showing old family quilts and sharing the stories that accompany them. Mary Bywater- Cross will share suggestions about the proper care and storage of quilts.
