Pope Francis has said to young people: God has given you great gifts. Dare to dream of great things. The Brentwood Catholic Youth Service and Walsingham House are a key part of our support for young people within the Diocese, and there is a second collection this weekend to help their work. We welcome Michael representing BCYS who will speak at all Masses this weekend. Becoming a Catholic - RCIA The next session will be on Thursday 26 th November in Sacred Heart Hall at 8.00pm. All parishioners are welcome. Confirmation 2016 For young people in school year 10 or above. Application forms are now available in the porches. The initial meeting for parents and young people will be on Tuesday 24 th November at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Hall. We need general volunteers (to hand out leaflets and answer queries) and drivers to take donations to the Foodbank Warehouse. Help is also needed at the Warehouse (Friendship House, Belle Vue Church) to sort and store the donations during the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (3 rd, 4 th and 5 th December). Please see the sign-up sheets in the porches. Applications to Catholic Primary Schools This year the process has been changed, it is now necessary that a Certificate of Catholic Practice be issued to take to the School of your choice. This must be requested from your Parish Priest in person and only one per child will be issued. These Certificates will only be issued to families known to your Parish Priest, who are practising Catholics and the child has been baptised. For the purposes of the Certificate of Catholic Practice, a person is deemed to be a practising Catholic if they observe the Church s precept of attending Mass on all Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation (see Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraphs ). Please do not request one if you are not a weekly Massgoer or if your practise has only been recent. If you would like Fr Lee to consider issuing you with a Certificate of Catholic Practice, please come to the Sacred Heart Church Sacristy on either Friday 11 th December (between 1.00pm and 5.00pm) or Saturday 12 th December (between 1.00pm and 4.00pm). There are no formal appointment times just come along and wait in turn for Fr Lee to see you individually. Please note, the certificates will not be issued at any
3 other time, either before or after these dates. You will need to bring the child s original baptism certificate. If you do not have it, please contact the parish of baptism and request a duplicate.
