2 POPE S INTENTION FOR DECEMBER Evangelization In the Service of the Transmission of Faith that people, who are involved in the service and transmission of faith, may find, in their dialogue with culture, a language suited to the conditions of the present time. ~ Dates for your Diary Sunday, 16 th December Parish Christmas Buffet The SVP would like to take gifts to those in need, sick and housebound for Christmas. During Advent we would appreciate donations (non-perishable food, toiletries, etc) placed in the basket at the rear of the Church and brought up with the offertory. Thank you. BIBLE STUDY GROUP: the regular meetings with Deacon Richard, in the Charles Langdon Room, will continue every Thursday during Advent in December. The group will look at the Readings for Sunday Mass. You are very welcome to join us. ~ The Polish Group meet every Friday in the Hall for prayer and worship at 6.30pm and on the first Friday of the month they meet in the church. The Church will be open from Tuesday to Friday during Advent for quiet prayer from 9am to 1pm. ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FLOWER DONATION - there will be a retiring collection after all Masses this weekend for Christmas flowers. Cornwall Poverty Forum has launched 2018 Alternative Christmas Giving Catalogue. 3 KEEP ADVENT HOLY: 5 Suggestions 1. Read/Reflect you could use Advent Extra, a daily devotion book or an online resource, to feed your inner self. 2. Get some quiet time: there is half day of recollection at St Cuthbert Mayne Church/Hall on 8 th December. Details in newsletter. Or book in to Advent Retreat at Honiton or find some time of quiet prayer at home. These things need to be planned and booked in your diary, otherwise they probably won t happen. 3. Remove the things that hinder you from receiving Christ with joy. Plan a time to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent. 4. Create an Advent Wreath for your home, and light another candle each week. Buy a Christian Advent calendar, and a Christmas Crib, if you haven t already got one. You are invited to bring your cribs to Mass on 4 th Sunday of Advent when they will be blessed. 5. Buy and send Religious Christmas cards with Christian stamps. Please find at the back of the church Advent Extra your journey to Christmas 24 daily reflections and prayers and many other articles including a pull-out centrefold for children. Price 2.25 ~ The Parish Christmas Buffett will be next Sunday 16 th December after 10am Mass at St Cuthbert Mayne Church in the Charles Langdon Room. All those who have kindly offered to bring along food could you please bring it to the hall before Mass. Thank you. St Rita s Centre, Honiton, Devon Advent of Recollection will be on Saturday 15 th December from 10.30am 4.30pm. The day will be led by Fr Barry Hallett, his theme is: Advent Readings. See poster on the noticeboard. Marie Shaw will be having a Cake Sale in the Charles Langdon Room after 10am Mass this Sunday to raise funds for the church and the donkey sanctuary she supports. The Tamar Lay Dominican Fraternal Group warmly invites you to join us to Light a Candle for a loved one this Advent at Christ the King Church, Armada Way, Plymouth on Thursday, 13 th and 20 th December between 6.30pm and 8pm.
