Next weekend, we will welcome Fr Graham Smith, our new Parish Priest. Urgent Appeal The Foodbank has helped 118 families in the last 2 weeks alone.. this means that stocks are very low on some essential items. Please try to donate some of the following next weekend.. tinned vegetables (carrots, peas, sweetcorn - no potatoes thank you) rice (bags or individual packets), tinned meat (eg meat pies), tinned puddings and custard. meal! A combination of these items will provide a full Collections of Food and Toiletries Dates Priority Items HARP 3 rd -4 th Coffee, teabags, sugar and toiletries. Foodbank 27 th -28 th August See the item above. Coffee and Cake - St John Fisher We are back after the summer break to serve our home made cakes and sausage rolls with delicious filter coffee. We continue our fundraising for

2 the parish CAFOD project and we welcome your support. We look forward to seeing you in the hall after Mass today. Everyone is welcome. Next Sunday is Education Sunday We welcome the children and staff form Sacred Heart School who will join us for the 11.00am Mass at Sacred Heart next Sunday. There will be a second collection for the Catholic Education Service. Stella Dawson Child Friendly Prayer Group The Prayer Group will not be meeting again until after the summer holidays and will reconvene on Wednesday 14 th at 9.15am in Sacred Heart Hall. If, during the holidays, you have an urgent prayer need please call Marianna on Gift Aid Scheme Thank you to everyone who gift aids their donations to the Parish. Coach Excursion Maldon Saturday 17 th This ancient Essex town of Maldon, with its oldest part sitting high on a hill overlooking the Blackwater estuary, has a rich and varied history just waiting to be explored. Famous for the Hythe, which is the home to many of the remaining Thames barges, explore the promenade and park, lunch in one of the quayside pubs or shop in the town. The Coach leaves Sacred Heart at 11:50am, picking up at Saint John Fisher at Noon arriving in Maldon at approximately 12:45pm. Adults 11 OAP's 10 Children

Essex Recusant Society (Brentwood Diocesan Historical Society) Little John.but no Robin Hood : the story of Saint Nicholas Owen (nicknamed Little John ), the Jesuit carpenter who saved the lives of countless priests by constructing hiding holes during the Reformation period and thus enabled them to become invisible to those searching for

4 them and so to continue their apostolate. One of the best examples of St Nicholas Owen s work is to be found in Essex. A presentation by Tony Reynolds will be given at The Grange, 93 Queens Road, Brentwood CM14 4EY at 2.30pm on Saturday 24. All are welcome. Study Day at Gidea Park Fr Adrian Graffy, parish priest of Gidea Park and member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, will lead a study day entitled God s Mercy is from Age to Age: the mercy of God in the Old Testament on Saturday 8 th October from 11.00am until 3.00pm at Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park, RM2 6DH. The study day in this Year of Mercy will explore the presence of God s mercy in the Scriptures. Admission is free, tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch. Works of Mercy - The Helpers of God s Precious Infants The next Rosary Procession Vigil, led by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, will be held on Saturday 10 th, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Grove Crescent Road, Stratford, E15 1NS. We begin with 10am Mass, followed by our Procession at 10.35am to BPAS abortion centre, Romford Road, Stratford E15 4BZ, where we pray 15 decades of the Rosary and sing hymns, returning at approx noon to the church for refreshments. Tour and Tea in aid of BCCS at Ingatestone Hall The Brentwood Catholic Children s Society invites you to join us on 17 th at Ingatestone Hall for a fundraising Tour and Tea. The tour of this beautiful Tudor mansion will start promptly at 2pm at the gates, taking in the avenue with its Clock Tower and moving on into the house where you will learn of its rich history and see many original features.
