CAFOD Project - St John Fisher At the start of 2015 we embarked on our new project which was to raise a total of 4,050 for CAFOD on a number of the projects listed in their World Gifts Catalogue. The gifts the parish chose were 2 Community Water Supplies, 3 Medical Outreach Teams, 2 Camels, 4 Cows, 2 Beekeeping Starter Kits and 4 Donkeys. Since then the parish has raised 2, towards our target of 4, This is in addition to the 1, we raised for CAFOD in the for scheme. The government doubled the amount we raised and so CAFOD actually received 2, through this scheme. Thank you so much for your fantastic support over the past 18 months. We will be taking our usual August break so the next coffee and cake morning will be on Sunday 4 th September. We wish you all a very happy summer! Congratulations to Sacred Heart School The Brentwood Religious Education Service recently inspected the school and rated it as Good and stated Sacred Heart is a good Catholic school with some outstanding features. These include the extent to which pupils
3 contribute to and benefit from Catholic life, the way leaders promote and evaluate the provision for Catholic life and the quality of the prayer and collective worship provided by the school. Children's Matinee: Penguins of Madagascar (Cert. U) in Sacred Heart Hall at 4pm on Friday 15th July Sacred Heart Film Club welcomes all children to watch "Penguins of Madagascar" (Cert. U). Those dastardly penguins, last seen hijacking a container ship to the Antarctic must now team up with an undercover secret organisation, The North Wind, to stop the villainous Dr Octavius Brine from destroying the world as we know it. The doors will open at 3.30 pm: admission is free but tickets are required - please see Paul Nicholson for tickets. Refreshments will be provided. Part of the Sacred Heart CAFOD Project to raise 4,500 to purchase a Medical Centre for an African village. If you have specific dietary requirements please inform us when booking. Director of Parish Evangelisation Vacancy The Diocese of Brentwood seeks to appoint a full time Director of Parish Evangelisation for a three-year fixed period from September. During this time the Diocese will be going through a process of discernment, decision making and change management, as we seek to make best use of our resources to promote the spread of the Gospel. The Diocese s Stewards of the Gospel initiative has seen the appointment of a body of talented lay people who will work within every parish to develop and implement a plan for evangelisation. The Director of Parish Evangelisation, having considerable experience and expertise in evangelisation for the Catholic Church, will be responsible for the creation and promotion of a robust, de-centralised plan for evangelisation, tailored to the individual needs and opportunities in each parish of the Diocese (taking into account, where applicable, developing plans for changes to parish boundaries). Salary 35,000-40,000 depending on experience. Closing date for applications 31 July.
