It is very telling that in the Rite of Baptism there is an option widely used in which the priest, in imitation of Jesus, puts his fingers in the ears of the candidate and says, Ephphatha, may your ears be opened to hear the Gospel and your lips to proclaim it. How open are your ears to hearing the good news of Jesus? Or Do you hear the good news but never allow it to enter your heart? Jesus loves you - now he asks you: Will you respond to my love by obeying my commandments. Our Sacramental Programmes Reconciliation - Last Saturday in every month at St Pius X or every Saturday at 5pm. Baptism - If you are thinking about preparing your child/children for Baptism please speak to Fr Gerry after Mass. RCIA - Please continue to pray for those considering this great commitment with Christ. Our RCIA will resume in October. First Holy Communion - If you would like to begin preparations for this Sacrament please complete a registration form which is now available. All completed forms to be returned direct to either Fr Gerry or Christine Confirmation If you are in Year 9 or above and are ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and become full members of the Catholic Church please Fr Gerry and let him know at frgerry@talktalk.net The course will be starting in October. If you have any questions please do ask Elaine or Helen who will happily help you.

2 How we Serve in the name of Jesus Adoration every Friday. The Legion of Mary is here to serve our parish beneath the standard of Our Lady's loving care. The St Vincent de Paul Society: Going beyond Boundaries Let us do without hesitation whatever good lies at our hands. Blessed Frédéric Ozanam At the St Vincent de Paul Society we are aware that poverty exists beyond where we can see. You may have noticed the posters on the pillars down the church, which highlight just some of the places where you can find Members of the SVP helping others. This could be in prisons, care homes, hospitals or visiting people in their own homes. In some of these instances, being a Member of the SVP can be a challenge, but it is also rewarding work, seeking and finding those in need, giving our support with compassion, and responding where the need is greatest. In a parish full of giving people we really should form our own SVP. Please pray that we can achieve this.if you can help in any way please call David Whines on This SVP is based at Our Lady of Ransom, Rayleigh.
