Thank you. 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time In todays readings we are reminded that the Lord alone is our King. Whilst for the sake of the common good we follow laws laid down by the Government we must never choose to obey any which conflict with God s commandments. We are created in God s own image and we owe Him everything - all our heart, mind, soul and strength. Let us pray for our leaders this week, that they will always do God s will. We should not be surprised that sometimes this will cost us but faithfulness to God cost Jesus his life. Surely we can put up with being teased for our faith. Have a blessed, worshipful and loving week. Fr Gerry Today is World Mission Sunday World Mission Sunday is your chance to support missionaries and the Church in proclaiming the Gospel of peace to those who suffer around the world. By supporting Missio, the Pope s official charity for overseas mission, you will be sharing the peace and love of Christ with all people by helping everyone in need, regardless of background or belief. Today your prayers and your donation will help a spirit of peace Baptism This weekend we welcome Kara Burke and Frankie Maher into the family of God as they receive the Sacrament of Baptism. Congratulations and welcome! If you wish your child/children to receive the Sacrament of Baptism please speak to Fr Gerry after Mass. First Holy Communion Our next meeting for parents will take place on Tuesday 7th November at 8pm. Please remember to come to Mass every week with your children. 2 Reconciliation In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we discover that God loves us no matter what we have done, and is ready to forgive whenever we turn to him in prayer. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession please call or speak to Fr Gerry. RCIA Our next RCIA meeting will take place on Tuesday 7th November at 8pm. This is open to everyone and is a perfect chance to find out more about the Catholic faith. Why not come along and see what happens? In session 3 we will be looking at: Why we believe God conquers evil. Why we believe in Jesus Why we believe in the Resurrection. All very welcome. Any questions please ask Fr Gerry or Christine. How we Serve in the name of Jesus The Legion of Mary is here to serve our parish beneath the standard of Our Lady s loving care. If you or a loved one would like a visit please leave your details in the 'Legion of Mary Box' in the church porch. We meet at 5.00pm every Monday. All are very welcome. Legion of Mary Juniors meet on Mondays at St. Teresa's school pm. New members are always welcome. This Month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and the Legion of Mary will be leading the Rosary before weekend Masses during the month. St Vincent de Paul Society - Turning concern into action If you can help in any way please call David Whines on This SVP is based at Our Lady of Ransom, Rayleigh. Perhaps we could think seriously about forming our own SVP group in the parish? This Friday Adoration will be from 3.30pm - 9pm and we would ask that you sign up to a time you would like to spend with the Lord to ensure someone is always present. 3 more information and to confirm your place, please visit or rg. 7th November - Healing Mass at St Teresa s 7.30pm Legion of Mary The Annual Frank Duff (founder of the Legion) Memorial Mass is being held at St. Teresa's Newbury Park on Saturday 4th November. A coach has been booked and leaves Eastwood at am. Refreshments afterwards a shared table. All members, auxiliaries and juniors are invited along with anyone interested in the Legion of Mary. 4th Nov - Fireworks at Fr Gerry s There is NO charge for this event. To enjoy a fun evening with friends from church and school all you need to do is bring ONE GOOD FIREWORK per family. We will be selling scrumptious hot dogs, tasty jacket spuds and hot drinks. There will also be a sweet shop for our little people. A great evening for everyone! Blessing of Graves A number of our priests will be blessing graves at Sutton Road Cemetery on Sunday 12th November from 3pm. If you would like the grave of a loved one blessed please do come along. Dates for your Diary 1st November - All Saints Day - Mass will offered at 9.30 and 8pm. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. 2nd November - Feast of All Souls. The Sacrifice of Mass will be offered for the departed at 8pm. Fr Gerry will read the names of all those names listed on our departed list and you are invited to light a candle for your loved one. Please check the list at the back of church and add any names missing. Social Events - How I can support my parish and have fun doing it! 2nd December - World Food Day Come and enjoy food from all around the world without leaving the room. Our cuisine this year will be: French, Spanish, Italian, Indian, Mexican and Asian. Tickets are 10 each which includes all the food you can eat! Tickets for this event are limited due to space so please let Christine know if you would like tickets on We are now collecting raffle prizes and are very grateful for your donations and support. Come along and join in the Hockley Festivities! 12th 10.30am - Mass at St Teresa s for the sick and housebound of our parish. Tea and cake will be served afterwards.
